Four Romantic Itineraries for a Long Holiday Weekend in L.A.
Hollywood
Sleep in together. When you finally get up, roll over to the Hungry Cat for caviar and champagne. It's just a hop away from Book Soup, so after you eat, go browse the shelves for the sexiest erotica you can find. Buy a book and head back home for some reading and a "nap."
To cool down, duck into the red-lit Powerhouse and nab a booth in the back where you can cuddle up and also be in close proximity to the jukebox. Play some old soul -- especially if it's Sunday -- then finish the night by tucking into a table in the corner of Bar Marmont and sharing a cheese plate as Prince's very own personal DJ, Rashida, spins the Sunday set she calls "Love Is the Message."
Santa Monica
Sleep in together. When you finally get up, walk down to the Santa Monica Farmer's Market and have a contest for finding the sweetest-looking fruit (may we recommend plumcots?). Buy a bag and a bottle of Pellegrino, then make your way to the ocean. Pick a grassy spot where you can see the water. Let your teeth break the flesh of whatever fruit you bought, not caring if the juice spills down your chin.
Maybe buy a ride on the Ferris wheel or play Skee-Ball on the Santa Monica Pier, then stroll down the beach hand in hand as the sun sets. Chilly but wary your beach day has left you ruffled and unpresentable? Dip into the Hotel Shangri-la's often uncrowded first-floor bar and take your drinks to one of the semi-secluded leather couches.
