Last Night in Austin: Mashable Rooftop Bash at SxSW

We were at it again last night, and the party pings did not stop coming. Bumping into Fast Company guru Robert Scoble and PR impresario Brian Solis in the Hilton Hotel lobby after listening to an enlightening Core Conversation organized by Digg's marketing muse Aubrey Sabala, we asked every tech luminary "where's the best place to go?" so you didn't have to.

The consensus was that the Mashable party at Six Lounge was where it was at so we put on our best shoes and plugged 117 4th street into our iPhones. The line for Mashable was crazy long (to no one's surprise) as Social Media phenom Pete Cashmore is somewhat of a hot property in the tech scene. The weather in Austin unexpectedly turned beautiful on Monday morning so the roof of Six Lounge was where most people congregated and we downed free drinks with the best of the best from L.A.'s tech scene and beyond, including TechZulu's Amanda Coolong, Rubicon Project's Nicole Jordan, tech paintball superstar Paige Craig, the aforementioned Brain Solis, Doug Campbell from Mindshare and the lovely Macala Wright from 1928 Jewelry.

Like all Internet related endeavors, we made the mistake of looking for the next big thing and high-tailed it for the Lucky Lounge even though we were having a great time right where we were. Unfortunately the poor man's Ozomatli was playing when we got there and by the time we figured out that the Lucky Lounge was not very lucky at all, our exhaustion and our growling stomachs got the best of us and we decided to get street meat instead of going to the Pure Volume party we had put in an RSVP for. Some times the best moments in business happen by a street meat stand, in the middle of a road in Texas, waiting for your hot dog.
