Burak Kaynak's Status Calendar: Twitter of the Ancient Peoples

Categories: Tech, Weird

When human civilization eventually breaks down, dies out, and the amoebas take over, you have to wonder if the people of the future--aliens, or new species, or what have you--will have anything left to remember us by. So much of what we do these days as a species is rooted in the virtual. Sure, they'll have the actual computer and iPhone remnants to poke at and study. But what about the stuff that was on the computer? All those billions of websites and deep and meaningful blog posts that don't get printed out?

The Aztecs left their temples. The Egyptians--the pyramids and scrolls. What will bloggers leave for posterity?

This ridiculous and hilarious little piece (a send-up of Twitter, from the looks of it) by Istanbul-based designer Burak Kaynak made me think of that. It's called the "Status Calendar."
