Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood to Air on Adult Swim Beginning February 13

Categories: Television

Good news for fans of Fullmetal Alchemist. The second series of the popular anime/manga franchise, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, is set to premiere on Adult Swim on February 13 at 12 a.m. (ET, PT) and will continue its 26-episode run in the midnight spot on the cable channel's Saturday night anime line-up. This announcement confirms the buzz that has been traveling through the anime fan community since Adult Swim announcement several weeks ago that it would be airing three new anime series.

Fullmetal Alchemist follows the story of brothers Edward and Alphonse Elric, young talents in the science of alchemy whose attempt at human transmutation goes horribly awry, leading them on a quest for the Philosopher's Stone to rectify the damage they caused. It is an amazingly popular anime, one that has spawned everything from cosplays to merch to tattoos. The first series has been a staple of Adult Swim's anime programming for several years.

Fullmetal Alchemist:Brotherhood is an alternate version of the events that transpired in the first series, so newcomers will be able to watch the show without getting lost. Last year, anime company FUNimation aired Brotherhood on the web as a "simulcast" with the Japanese broadcast, with fully subtitled episodes streaming a few days after the original air date. In contrast, the Adult Swim episodes are dubbed into English.

Fans of the series will be interested to note that Brotherhood features much of the same cast as the first dubbed series. Popular voice actor (and noted Star Trek fan) Vic Mignogna will reprise his role as Edward Elric. Caitlin Glass (Winry Rockbell), Travis Willingham (Roy Mustang), Laura Bailey (Lust) also remain part of the FMA family. Newcomers include Maxey Whitehead (Romeo x Juliet, Baccano) as Alphonse Elric, J. Michael Tatum (One Piece, Baccano) as Scar and Bryan Massey (Baccano, Gunslinger Girl: Il Teatrino) as Isaac McDougal. We've included a cast list below.
