Let's see, Teen Witch, Revolt, Rovk, Revs, etc. These are the artists responsible for the "most significant art movement" since the 60s as Deitch is trying to claim? LMAO

BLU Why is it not in this exhibition? The art of the street would there be limits to freedom of expression? The art market would he hard to integrate the work of producing meaning, beyond the agreed upon?

The episode in December 2010 at MOCA is quickly evacuated, I think …http://next.liberation.fr/cult...

I’ll go see the work of BLU in the streets, keep your tools speculation museumFor more news, soon: http://ecritique-revue.over-bl...

Keep on hoping! Do your research of the tag-banging era...Graffiti is the larger scope but you can't deny that part. get shot for voicing my opinon....hahahaha...foo move to China. Voice my opinion any time and what! most artists at the moca show are rich white folks....where is CHAKA?...

A friend said that he can't wait to see tag-banging era stuff at the museum....I think that the tag-baging era will never make it to the museums....cuz then some drama might occur! But you never know.... Tag-banger era was closely affiliated if not only happened cuz of the gang wars ...racial tensions among gangs in the nineties was unlike nothing ever seen....Growing up in the LBC I had to watch my as_ just to get to school…even though I had nothing to do with that shi_, (thought my influence by graff art was got me to pursue my carrier as a professional artist), that came with the environment at the point in time....honestly BANSKY and OBEY and all this 50+ graff artists shown at MOCA would had not survived the tag bang era...they would have been caped! I don't take anything from all this 50+ artists since in their own right have done some extraordinary cultural changes! Tag Bagging era was a testament of people wanting to voice their mark even when in doing so their life was at stake and would not shy from taking others life just to make their mark!

Will Angel Ortiz get any mention at all?

Can MOCA Get Any Worse?
Can MOCA Get Any Worse?

Dash Snow??? come on...

The show's most authentic piece stands to be the unsanctioned KATSU tag that got buffed out in a couple of days.

Imagine the bullshit they're going to sell in the gift shop.

'Boycotting' the show to aid Blu's cause is ridiculous. It was a commissioned piece, MOCA were entirely within their rights to buff it if they didn't think it was appropriate. I think a lot of so called streets artists try and be controversial with their work before thinking why they want to be controversial. I personally didn't think Blu's piece was that great to start with. As for the show being in an art institution, it does take the work out of the context it was intended to be in, but isn't any street art or street artist's solo show the same? What's the difference between heading to this show as opposed to heading down to a ROA or D*Face's solo shows that are, or have been in LA recently.Street art is an important movement in modern art history, and I think it is right that it should be celebrated and be given the status that putting it in such an institution provides. Afterall Shepard Fairey and Banksy have both had museum shows in the past.I think the artists that have 'boycotted' the show have missed a big opportunity to have their work shown in an environment that could potential be a large benchmark in their career, and street art as a whole.

No complaints about LA Weekly "censoring" my posts? I'd have more respect for a mural that cried about "Obama forsaking us", since the hero of street artists has basically proven to be Bush III.

I heard deska was gonna be there too, I guess not.cause they left him.out.of the list

Listen to the whining about a mural getting "painted out." A mural on private property that was PAID for by a major institution. Who the hell cares? Since when did all you "street artist" fanboys get such a sensitive, overly-precious, martyr syndrome going? Move on with your lives, people.

I agree with you Phil. And honestly, that BLU mural was actually quite an eyesore.

Fisherface

putting "street art" in a museum is like pitting an animal in a cage. This is an "art" zoo, completely out of context.

Banksy IS in the show, and MOCA covered up BLU's piece out of respect to the Veteran's Monument that faced that wall. The mural was dope, but was just in bad taste from where it stood.

Banksy, BAST, Phil Frost, Faile, Jose Parla, D*Face, Buff Monster, and MBW are all heroes for boycotting this show to show their support for BLU

Banksy's the only one i've seen identified as in the show (aside from Blu) who is not on the list, and i'm guessing he is the special guest. if they were approached and boycotted the show, why didn't they speak up (silent boycott)?

Ammaflre

No Banksy either. Right on Banksy!!!

Seamus

Oh, and the LA Weekly has their nose so far up Deitch's ass that they will never report truthfully on the BLU censorship issue.

Seamus
Seamus

The censorship of the BLU mural is all you need to know about this show. Any institution too gutless to deal with "controversy" has no business profiting on a show about street art and graffiti, which is all about controversy. BOYCOTT.

Phil
Phil

The only controversy is why a so-called street artists accepts commissions from museums. The only controversy is why people think street art belongs in a museum in the first place... it's probably to try and lure people into the museum that would normally never be there. In case you didn't realize, street art has been commercial for a while. I'd rather see a Coca Cola billboard than another freaking Obey face.

Ammaflre
Ammaflre

BOYCOTT for BLU censorship.
