Yes, you heard that tweet correctly. LA Weekly is now accepting submissions of original poetry to be published on this very arts blog! We're interested in your sonnets, haikus, ballads, lyric essays...hell, even your raps, perhaps? Anything you've written and have rights to that is previously unpublished. Send it to poetry@laweekly.com for consideration.

Here are some things you should know:

1) We do not accept submissions anywhere but poetry@laweekly.com. We reserve the right to publish anything sent to that address.

2) An image will go along with each poem we post, so please send us one you'd like us to use, as well as a proper photo credit. Please note we may use a different image if we find one that's more appropriate.

3) Submissions are accepted on a rolling basis, though keep an eye out on LA Weekly's Facebook and Twitter accounts for special assignments, themes and prompts.

Right now we're particularly interested in poems with an L.A. spin -- about L.A., referencing L.A., or capturing L.A. in some way. Get yours to the inbox pronto, and you might see it on the web very soon.
