OnchMovement's new pop-up store, Perfectasy, opened on August 4 at Royal/T in Culver City and will remain there for the rest of August. Amidst the collection of whimsical jewelry-- think necklaces with slabs of faux bacon, plastic eggs and OnchMovement's signature double twist pretzel-- were several collaborations between designer Onch and his artist and designer friends. Our favorite of these was a small collection of necklaces and cameos created by Onch and L.A.-based artist Misha (you might recall her Mario vs. Star Wars paintings that we covered last summer). Onch calls these the "Tentacle Women."

The collaboration began when Misha showed Onch a picture she had of a woman with tentacles for hair.

"Onch was like, 'You like tentacles, I like tentacles,'" she says. And so a new project was born.

Misha began by painting a pink face on a wood circle. Onch then added coordinating tentacles and paired it with beads. The first necklace worked out so well that they decided to make a few more.

"This has been the most fun collaboration," says Misha. "I was totally able to totally trust him. There were no big egos. I did my bit and he did his bit and we were able to talk about what we were doing and just go, 'Do you think this would work?'"

The Tentacle Women appeared to us like super cute Medusa characters.

"I have a thing for girls that are kind of cute and creepy," says Misha.

Misha, in particular, was impressed with the results. She hadn't seen the finished pieces before the opening.

"Tonight, I got the big surprise," she says. "I want my own jewelry. I love all of them, but I think the blue one might be my favorite."
