Mr. Brainwash Invites You to Participate in his Latest Exhibit/Party, 'Art Show 2011'

As if traffic along the La Brea corridor isn't already bad enough, L.A.'s beloved street artist Mr. Brainwash -- who first got attention through our cover story and later through the documentary Exit Through the Gift Shop -- is staging another spectacular and he needs your help. The man partially responsible for the death of street art as we know it (is that a bad thing?) wants to put you, yes you, in his next show.

"Art Show 2011" is officially scheduled to open in the next few weeks. But before that, Brainwash invites you to the currently very empty but beautiful 80,000 square foot space at 1269 N. La Brea (near the West Hollywood Target) where, for 3 days, starting Sunday, Oct. 9, you can hang your work in 20,000 of it. Its an open invite to the community at large, so if you ever wanted to get your art on, now's the time. No negativity or nudity is allowed. The invite has gone global, so expect some out-of-towners to make an appearance as well as a few members of the Seventh Letter crew adding their touch (they get the stairwells).

The open invitation echoes the recent "Chain Letter" exhibit at Shoshana Wayne Gallery, in which curators emailed an invitation to artists to show their work, and those artists then passed the same invite along to fellow artists, and so on, until eventually 1,600 artists showed up, artwork in hand.

None of the donated work will be for sale, and you won't get it back, as it will be destroyed with the building once Thierry vacates. But of course, he's filming it, so who's to say Banksy's not thinking about a Gift Shop sequel?

80,000 square feet. Can he fill it? "I don't accept impossible," says Guetta on a recent visit. "I see art everywhere!"

His current show at 960 LaBrea simply rules.  Those who complain - keep complaining, if it makes you feel better.

This guy fucked up.. And he knows what I'm talking about

Ayiiia E.

This just shows how typical Los Angeles is. You guys say he's the greatest more unique and artistic artist out there and you guys are obviously BRAIN DEAD!!!! shame on you LA Weekly for supporting this copy cat. He made Andy Warhol's work completely meaningless by playing it out in EVERY painting. HE IS not original or unique.

He doesn't even MAKE his art work!!! He is the "idea" whatever that fucking means... he pays people to graphically design all of his work. Pathetic & disgusting.

And by LA "supporting" him, you guys obviously know nothing and don't respect real art, including you LA Weekly. Such a disappointment.  Bansky does not support this man!

A MESSEGE TO ALL SHEEP ARTIST: This guy has no credibility as an "ARTIST's ARTIST"..keep in mind you can have peace on the streets as well; were it needs to be, not hidden inside some shabby basement were the art will be destroyed when its done anyway and then what? till next year when you can scratch Mr Nobodys balls again so you go "GIDDY" over hanging your shit in a basement next to whoever..WOOOOOOOW!i"M SOOO ENLIGHTENED!!..COME ON..quit acting like a bunch of homos and get your shit straight, rep your shit right.YOU ARE YOUR IDENTITY..Your credibility is YOU on the street DO YOUR THING  don't be a tool forsome CHARLITAN ARTISTS' own promotions.. ah but ALAS! ...mr hoo haw and all his munchkin followers stuck it to you guys again and you suckers fall for it everytime...his bank account is loving it even more...but its cool cuz it is better to know who follows this hack...he might be a "COOL" dude.but remember you HAVE TO BE THE NICEST GUY IN THE WORLD to pull of a hoax.Anyways have fun at your little woodstock picnic...im glad people are inspired but its funny how your inspired by a hoax goes to show all you poeple go thru life with your blinders on..like happy little sheep..sheep artists. I know im not alone in my opinions and some might say i'm sour but that is not the case...I just happens to pay attention to my craft and respect my craft..and protect it from it becoming diluted to shit like everything else these days. We need to keep the purity and the sacredness in this or else your gonna have too many fake wannabe artist filling the street with crap that should of stayed as an idea.SO THE THE TRUTH HURTS'...YEAH WELL ITS SUPPOSSED TO ..THATS HOW YOU KNOW YOUR DOING IT WRONG...it seems that there is no right way anymore..you can take shortcuts in life and your applauded with greatness...go head with your badd self then...be great, great at being WACK.YOU GET NO RESPECT.. You want peace and all that great feeling you had "POSTING YOUR ART" in a wharehouse knock your self out! weeeeeeeeeeeee!!!...I get that same feeling from being outside in my realm and know that people see my shit and wonder who I am and when they find out I'm that Artist they're like WOW!...that's the feeling knowin your shit is looked for by people..and they follow you cuz your art is YOUR Art not somebody else's..so you can have that fake feeling I keep my shit real....might as well give away crayons and little street art startup kits for all the little munchkins at the front door..I think I've said enough on this.Just Remember has your being suckered into that temporary feeling you have, and has you post your work and start bragging later that YOU were "SHOWING ART IN AN ART SHOW along  side blah blah blah" line...THA....YOU are learning the ways of the charlitan, and you will have lost my respect as an "ARTIST" and from others as well.In time when your mind wakes up and your eyes open you will realize you were really part of nothing new or groundbreaking.Mr washyourface is just another what I call Karioki Artist, lip syncing all the way to the bank.I WILL HAVE NO PART IN THIS TOM FOOLARY!THE STREETS IS WERE ITS AT.REMEMBER THAT - AIW-

PS as a graff artist YOU WONT SEE MY SHIT UNDER SOME BOGAS ARTIST SHOW...dont forget the roots...dont know why there would be graff there anyways, especially by the seventh letter..whats that about?
