It's easy to forget that My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic is a kids show. After all, it's mostly adults -- known as Bronies and Pegasisters -- that we see dressed as Rainbow Dash at conventions. Plus, artists like Luke Chueh, Shojono Tomo and Mark Mothersbaugh are getting artwork ready for next month's My Little Pony Project in Los Angeles.

But MLP is, technically, geared toward the little ones and, on Saturday afternoon, Royal/T was filled with young girls, and a few boys, ready to attend the nuptials of Princess Cadence and Shining Armor. The royal pony couple is getting hitched in a two-part episode that debuts on cable's the Hub next Saturday. Last weekend was the sneak preview.

"A Canterlot Wedding" isn't your typical TV wedding extravaganza. There's intrigue, a lot of action and, like all episodes of MLP: FIM, a few good lessons. But the morals of the stories in MLP: FIM aren't necessarily typical of children's television. They're less about eating your vegetables and more about developing social skills that will last the rest of your life. While those lessons are aimed at children, they're important reminders for everyone. Check out the top five My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic lessons for adults below.

5. Don't try to do everything yourself.

Episode: "Applebuck Season"

Applejack is the sort of pony who's good at a lot of things, from wrangling cows to baking. She's also always willing to step up and help out a pal. So, when her brother gets injured during apple season, she offers to harvest the goods all by herself. Some jobs are just too big for one person, though, and when we refuse to acknowledge this, disaster strikes.

4. Don't be too modest.

Episode: "Boast Busters"

When the Great and Powerful Trixie comes to town, her boasting gets on the nerves of nearly every pony who meets her. After seeing the reaction to Trixie, Twilight Sparkle decides to keep her own skills under wraps.

Braggarts, showoffs and know-it-alls are annoying, but there's such a thing as too much modesty. At the very least, you risk being overshadowed by the less talented blowhard.

Good choices, though personally the episode I find the most mature, and the one that caused me to not only love the show, but -respect- it, is "The Last Roundup" where Applejack runs away from Ponyville and tries to make up for her losing the rodeo competition. The whole theme of "You can't run away from your mistakes," "Own up to your failures," "You can't expect to be #1 all the time," etc... were, I felt, extremely mature lessons that many of us need to be reminded of. It sucks to  fail at something you're good at, but it's even harder to face up to it and keep trying, even if it's a blow to your ego.

Kinda surprised Bridle Gossip didn't make it on here. Not judging a book by its cover is a lesson oft-forgotten in this day and age - especially when that book happens to be another person. On the other hoof, that's probably just me because I love that episode, haha.

Still a good read (no pun intended) all the same.

"Bridle Gossip" just missed my final cut.

This was awesome to read. I am really pleased that us bronies are getting recognized in a positive light. The show has caused miracles in my life. I have been able to get closer with friends and grow as a person from watching this show. Friendship truly is magic. Even though I feel like Big Mac (Applejack's silent older brother) when it comes to new people, sort of stoic and quiet, the show since the day I began watching it with my little sister has made me feel more positive as a person.

A very nice article. All the lessons are sound advice.

On #3, you should have mentioned (it's pretty obvious, really, but you still should have) that Fluttershy, in the end, surpasses herself through training AND willpower, becoming probably the best flier on her group.

Also, people who previously mocked her ("Fluttershy,Fluttershy,Fluttershy can hardly fly!") now praise her ("Fluttershy, Fluttershy, Fluttershy can REALLY fly!!"). That feeling (being accepted and praised by your peers) must be one of the greatest feelings a person can enjoy.

It wasn't really that she became the best in the group, but that even if something isn't your strong suit, you shouldn't preclude being able to do it at all. She still wasn't the best flier in the group, as shown by the speedometer; her (admittedly meager) ability was enough to make the difference, though. Even a small force can make all the difference, is the moral I got from that episode.

I'm an Aspergers girl, so friendship is definitely one of the harder things that I have had to face. But MLP has certainly helped me to figure out some of the tougher aspects of having friends. For example, I used to think that the only reason people liked to hang out with me was because I was weird, and therefore entertaining. Now (especially because of Pinkie Pie, who I relate to the most (except for all the parties (too many parentheses))) I understand that friendship is a lot more than silly antics, though it was really hard for me to see that at first. I also know that being weird and hyper isn't always good in some occasions (thanks again, Pinkie) and that, as number 2 suggests, I can't know everything, I can't plan everything, and I can't DO everything. I've got it a bit easier being a MLP fan, since I'm a girl, but to all you guys out there who are learning just as much as I am from this show, keep at it.

TL;DR: Thanks, MLP.

 We sure will.

On a side note, you're not weird, you're genuinely funny, not like haha funny but more like Pinkie Pie when she's a laugh riot funny :)  It comes from within your personality, and is just a wonderful part of who you are.

Should have had Return of Harmony: Parts 1 and 2: "Friendship isn't always easy, but there's no doubt it's worth fighting for."

I agree on most of these, except the last one.  The two parter in the beginning of season one was more about accepting the feeling of friendship for yourself, allowing others to be your friends.  It wasn't that she was too focused on her work, but rather that she didn't have the idea of what a friend really was until that spark, that realization that there were others who would be willing to be her friends, and the acceptance of that realization as a truth she could understand.

Phillie Chi,

Thanks for your comment. I think with a lot of episodes, the messages received definitely depend on the perspective of the viewer. I think you're point about accepting friends is really true within the episode. From my own perspective, as someone who often gets so involved in work that I avoid new friendships, I saw it just slightly differently.

Agreed, also I'm working on the whole seeing things from other people's perspective thing myself.  Tough stuff to be true.

Dear Princess Celestia:

Life is hard.

Your dear friend, Phillie Chi ^,^
