If after 18 years this type of article is all you can muster, you might wanna think of retiring or let the kids take care of what's hot in nightlife. Seriously "hotel is trendy and visually appealing" Duh, its a hotel in West Hollywood! How is it appealing and different? Sounds like an 8th grader wrote this.The girls at the Standard look like worn out prostitutes,I'm positive that's not the best LA has to offer.
the comments to the article sum up why I despise the folks west of western. Good job on making a list. They probably aren't my favorite spots, but whatever floats your boat.

You know, maybe it's the toothache, maybe it's because it's so early in the morning...but this has to be one of the most vapid, crass, pandering...and just "ugh" articles. Now, this isn't because the women aren't "beautiful" or whatever. That's irrelevant to this commentary. It's just that, when people talk shit about LA and "LA people", I usually scoff and go: "Aw, man come on...it's not like that." -- And then I read an article like this and I find out that it really is "like that". The writer is a prime example of "LA people". I mean, a quarter of these places are chill (I'mean at least the Standard is catching the fuck up.) ....but the rest of these bars are the most gaudiest (in a bad way), boorish culture vacuums that have ever been laid to brick and mortar. And knowing that the writer (For 18 years) has been doing this to our awesome city via LA Weekly bums me the fuck out, dude, seriously. I didn't need this shit this morning. :( -- I have a serious toothache! Real shit: It's like, my front one and I am literally -BREATHING PAIN-
See man, look at the writer's "Note". It just misses the point of...*everything*... completely. Like, she -says- it's not about objectifying women, but obviously the only reason anyone who wasn't a fucking tourist would end up at most of these bars is, in fact, FOR PUSSY. She didn't mention much of anything about the allure of these places, at all. (Because most them have none unless you're fresh off the plane from somewhere that isn't HERE.)

I think that Lina added her "note" about no mean comments on the pics because she knows that most of these women(?) in the photos are busted... even with a "hipster" or "edgy" point of view.
Thank God the LA Weekly writers never see fit to visit South LA, the Eastside, the San Gabriel Valley or any part of LA not between the Westside and Echo Park (with occasional forays into the San Fernando Valley).

Is that a typo or was that actually the quote? "...and beer cans in my (hear) ??? Was it SUPPOSED to be hair??? And if so, who had the misspell or who simply had a typo or who doesn't know the difference ?
all of the chicks in this gallery look like they are dirty, nasty bitches! and i know the girl with the black hair in this bar marmont photo- every time she's a cokehead and an alcoholic who can't handle her liquor and is always falling all over the place. so yeah, if you want to meet the scummy sluts of LA, go to these bars!
I love this article. It is obvious that Lina has an eye for what's the best in LA. I've been reading her articles for the last 18 years and feel connected to LA through her LA Weekly editorials. Thank you Lina for all of your hard work.

Hey imbecile haters, Lina is a journalist who reviews the LA nightlife for a newspaper we are all blessed to have, free or not. She is not there at your service and isn't the source of whatever problems you have with yourself, or women or whoever. Why not turn off your computers and stop abusing people who aren't there to shut your mouth in person. I'm sorry but.."all over the City'?? There's NOTHING South of the 10 and nothing even CLOSE to my favorite area for beautiful, intelligent, playful and sometimes trampy,,,,,,women!!...the South Bay and up through Venice/SantaMonica. And don't give me that "She kept it in the LA "proper" grid. North Hollywood is about as far off the grid as Irvine!! Hipsters might say that the area i mentioned isn't Svingy enough for the list. @garrisounds NOHO is just over the hill, 5 min from Hollywood, Studio City and the Hollywood Hills. It is not even remotely close to being compared to Irvine. But I agree with your last sentence.
