I don't know about you but I've been so nauseated all this last week listening, first, to Bill Clinton talk about how, when he was President, he tried to kill Osama Bin Laden and how he came the closest of anybody to killing him and how badly he wanted to kill him, kill kill kill!, which brought up all this commentary about how Bush got sidetracked with Iraq and how he should've remained concentrated on the killing of Bin Laden. Then, of course, the apologists for Bush responded with a shitload of praise for all the killing that's going on in Iraq, saying that it is a superduper fucking thing to be doing and that Bush still wants to kill Bin Laden, etc. It sickens me to hear public discourse that is allowed to rage on and on without anybody mentioning the fucking obvious: that missing the opportunity to create death is never a failure. What kind of pissing contest are we applauding for fucksake?!
I did this cartoon last Wednesday after reading the many Rumsfeld quotes printed in the New York Times, specifically those about how people should remember history and that, basically, anybody who dissents against the government is an apologist for, or even an aider and abettor of, terrorists. I immediately sent it over to the LA Times, who usually get first crack at any cartoons I do that don't contain the words fuck or cocksucker or asshole, etc. They bought it for the Sunday edition but somehow screwed up and didn't run it. So, here it is, as stale as Kip Adotta in a mood ring, but still historically significant I guess.
