Good thing some people didn't have their boys play with dolls, so that they'd become United States Marines and fight and die for your ability to tear them down.
Good thing some people didn't have their boys play with dolls, so that they'd grow up to be men, able and willing to protect loved ones.
When some crazed mugger comes after you, strung out on drugs, give him a hug. See if that works.
I thank GOD (the one you hate) for the United States Military, serving - giving their lives if necessary - for the freedoms we enjoy and you piss on.
If not for Marines like the one pictured here, your filthy disgusting cartoon would be written in German.........assuming your ancestors weren't turned into bars of soap or lampshades.
Thousands of marines died to allow you to be an idiot. How about telling them "Thanks"
I must say that I am a little surprised by some of my reader's (mostly from littlegreenfootballs.com) offense and can only assume that much of their misreading of my cartoon must come from their having been pacified to any real criticism of the U.S. military by the kid gloves that cartoonists and the media typically use during a time of unjust war. The point of my cartoon was to suggest, in a very broad way, that we as a species have to figure out how to change the bogus rationale we use for resorting to violence with other societies.
And as far as respecting the army of an invading and occupying force, whether it is Roman, Russian, French, German, British, Israeli or American, I must respectfully decline, particularly when the courage and perceived selflessness that some so patriotically defend is, in the current situation, responsible for the deaths of some 600,000 Iraqis, forget about all the other Afghani or Palestinian deaths that our presence in the region has caused; forget, too, about whatever chain of events our hubris will unleash on my children and my children's children.
I must say, too, that by expressing contempt and disdain for the institution of war, particularly in the instance of Iraq, I am actually thinking more kindly of our soldiers than those who embrace it are. Specifically, I am not asking anybody to risk his or her life for either boldfaced lies or the machismo of corporate profiteering and hegemony. The war in Iraq is not a war designed to protect our freedoms, which was suggested by some of the comments I've received; anybody who believes that is asking our soldiers to die for an assinine fairytale and should be ashamed of the complete idiocy of such a request and embarrassed by the stupidity that such a notion demands from anybody moronic enough to support it.
Simply put, when you're a Marine and when doing your duty is a crime against humanity, then I believe that the only real heroism you can exercise is to conscientiously object to participating in prolonging the atrocity. In fact, for the sake of preventing the pendulum swing that jeopardizes the safety of my civilian family from future attacks by foreign "soldiers," it's time for servicemen and their supporters to start to realize that being able to follow orders given by greedy and evil men does not deserve the respect of anybody. There is nothing noble about volunteering to provide the brut force necessary to exercise terrorism against innocent people in other countries.
Wow are you living in a bubble. A media that only reports on the death and destruction, and ignores the construction of schools, the provision of electricty and power, and one that shows propaganda film from the ENEMY.... that's 'kid gloves'?
as for this:
"Simply put, when you're a Marine and when doing your duty is a crime against humanity, then I believe that the only real heroism you can exercise is to conscientiously object to participating in prolonging the atrocity. "
You're just insane. you ASSUME that fighting the terrorists and insurgents is a 'crime against humanity' based on what? We're fighting people who choose to target civilians, bombing public places, etc... and THAT is why we're fighting them!
and you say that WE'RE engaging in crimes against humanity?
When you're not defamine the United States of America and her Military, what else do you do? Do you have experience in the ACTUAL real world? or do you live in the 'real world' of colleges, universities and newspapers?
Do you know anyone in the military? or do you distance yourself from people who have something you dont: a spine.
Every military person who has died should be honored, and every military peson who is alive should be thanked.
instead, you disgrace them with your profane ideas.

"World organized around the precepts of peace and freedom"
Where the hell is that? Are you smoking crack AND PCP? There is no peace in the Middle East. There is no Peace in Islam.
Dittos to what Lance said, and throw in a "fuck you, Mr. Fish."
