Thank You, Mr. Fish, for saying what most of us are either ashamed of saying or are too brainwashed to admit. Let's stop training our young men and women to abdicate their natural instinct to preserve life and overthrow the authoritarian warmongers who think that that rationale is acceptable.
Posted On: Saturday, Sep. 6 2008 @ 9:43AMI assure you that only the most extreme liberal leftist morons believe this. Anyone with even half a brain cell would quickly refute this.
But good work on all your other stuff, maybe if I ignore this piece I'll be able to not think of you as a closest terrorist...
So are the Vietnam Vets Against the War and their Iraq War counterparts heroes or criminals? Can a criminal become a hero? Mr. Fish is no terrorist. Rather, a true pacifist. Thus, a person destined for disappointment and outrage for his entire life.
Posted On: Saturday, Sep. 6 2008 @ 8:07PM"Never again" they said after "the war to end all wars", but we never learn.
Every time, the "defence of the nation" is invoked to justify the invasion of another, and every time the rhetoric is just as hollow.
War is just organized murder, enacted by cowards who will never see horror of war.
Posted On: Saturday, Sep. 6 2008 @ 8:50PM" It is forbidden to kill: therefore all murderers are punished unless they kill in large numbers and to the sound of trumpets. "
"Those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities."
Don't worry everything will work itself out: we all die someday.
Posted On: Tuesday, Sep. 9 2008 @ 2:50PMAs a VFP member and Vietnam vet I can say that most of us agree with this anaysis and many live every day regretting what we did. But I also see the picture with shades of gray in that many of the "criminals" were recruited as children at 16 or 17 before they had the capacity to make an informed decision and with the facts against military recruitment hidden from them by a society that is being increasingly militarized with recruiters present at low income schools in my community every day.
I think the victimization by the military industrial complex exists for both the occupier and the occupied.

WOW.
I'm so glad my grandfather and brother willingly gave their lives in Normandy and Iraq so you could write these horrid words about your fellow countrymen.
CRIMINALS - dying so that your fellow Americans could continue to enjoy their FREEDOM of speech, thought, religion and way of life.
Why don't people understand that you can want PEACE until you're blue in the face, but there are nations out there who want ALL Americans DEAD?! Liberal, Conservative - you are a threat to their fascist, misogynistic, intolerant way of life? I'd LOVE a world with no war - who wouldn't?
What upsets me to no end are people who are quick to call our soldiers murderers but won't put men like Hitler and Hussein up on a stake. These men were/are the devil incarnate and yet you castrate our young American soldiers with this hate speech?
How very....intolerant.
they would be criminals of our society technically, but it seems that killing is a human instinct. So basically they are only performing what every other human has done before in the past. Of course that doesn't make it ok to kill. I mean no matter what way you cut it there will always be an asshole who only wants to kill and be killed. Morals don't mean much to me anymore. Everyone has there own way of viewing shit and there is no way to honestly tell if there is or isn't a God for it all to matter.
the only thing certain is skull and bones of all of us in the very end.

I totally understand what Normandy has to do with... wait, no I don't.
I suppose you don't know how America's richest prospered during WW2 while your relatives died. How the Bush family made its fortune in times of war. But somehow Mr. Fish's statement of truth really irks you.
And if you're glad about your relatives dying, shut up and stop complaining.
Posted On: Friday, Mar. 13 2009 @ 1:42PMFINALLY somebody says what I've been thinking all these years.
Throughout the '08 Prez campaign my ears were bleeding from hearing 'John McCain: War Hero' every five minutes. OK, so let me get this straight: Vietnam was a misguided fiasco at best, an immoral mass murder at worst, and here you have a guy who could barely keep a plane in the air during training, who flies a zillion feet over jungles and rice paddies and stone age villages indiscriminately and amorally carpet-bombing whatever happens to be alive down there and, since he's an incompetent pilot, gets shot down and captured. So, um, he's a HERO?
It is often said that history is written by the victors, so a similar Luftwaffe pilot who murdered a hundred London children before getting downed and captured would have been called a hero if the Nazis won WW2, right?
Except that we didn't 'win' Vietnam; we simply gave up on a very lost and very questionable cause -- so among those Americans who can't accept that we screwed up, they live in denial and create their own version of history, an alternate reality in which a murderous loser like McCain gets to play the 'hero'.
Until this sort of glorification of violence is uprooted from our national ethos (the way it was forcibly in Germany), we will never be anything but glorified Vikings.
Let's hope it doesn't have to happen the way it happened to Germany.
And to the mindless idiot who brought Normandy into this argument as if it had anything to do with the mess that was Vietnam (as if all wars are the same; as if self-defense is the same as rape), all I can say is that I'm sorry your grandfather and brother died -- but while your grandfather died to save the world from tyranny and slavery, your brother died DEFENDING tyranny. Ours. If you want to be proud of that, go ahead and live in denial -- but that kind of attitude will assure that at least some of your children and/or grandchildren will die for nothing just like your brother did.
