Over the Weekend: Lolitas Invade Little Tokyo, Van Morrison, Derby Dolls Championship, Kat Von D and Bam Margera Host Skateboard Event

Well, we survived election week and like many of you I spent a majority of the weekend trying not to get out of bed, reflecting on what an absolutely amazing (yet exhausting) November we've had thus far. Over the weekend, while some Angelenos traded in partying for protesting, others opted to check out the special events that rolled through town. L.A. Weekly caught a few good ones:

Sirens and Tough Cookies got vicious as the teams battled for the L.A. Derby Dolls 2008 Championship at the Doll Factory, the all-female roller derby league's new space in Historic Filipinotown.

Lolitas Invade Kyoto Grand Hotel in Little Tokyo

Kat Von D and Bam Margera Present Element Skateboard Series at Active Store in Westwood

L.A. Ink tattoo artist Kat Von D joined MTV skateboarding prankster Bam Margera for the launch of the Element X Kat Von D Collectors Series Skateboard. Hundreds of fans turned out for the board signing, skating and performance by Mike V's band Revolution Mother.
