Ambulance Becomes Man's Hearse

Categories: City News

The L.A. Daily News and other sources report that a "criminally insane" man jumped out of an ambulance that was heading southbound down the 101 Freeway near Universal City last night. He was struck and fatally injured by a Volvo driven by a Van Nuys man. The mental patient was being transported to a medical facility by the private ambulance.

City News Service (a subscription-based service) reports the unnamed patient, 45, was taken to Burbank's St. Joseph Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The unidentified Volvo driver was arrested on an undisclosed matter.
