LAPPL President Paul Weber: Next Chief Needs To Be 'People Person'

• It's going to take some work but I'll do whatever I can to get them elected as president.

• It's true what Valley Citizen says about Michael Moore. He and his wife are well known in the "swinger scene" glad it's coming out.

• So Moore and Pasinger would both be bad for the city if they were chief.

• Well, that's fine that the police chief should be a people person, but not as much a people person as Deputy Chief Mike Moore. That poor excuse of a man is a "SWINGER",a weasel and not to be trusted. He would be to worried about were his next conquest is, than to keep the people and the city safe from crimminals. Quite simply, Moore is an incompitent. It would seem clear to me that the correct person for the job is Assistant Chief McDonald. He has been doing the job for quite some time. And John Mack is a buffoon, who couldn't pick anyone other than a black man, because of his racist leanings. Moore would be a VERY BAD move.

• This is laughable Paul Weber saying anything. The Police Political League spent over $750,000 to get Trutanich elected. Another $240,000 on themselves for a nice retreat in June out of the city, and in this economic crisis when their cops didn't get a raise they are using cops due money to have a Xmas party for the politicans and themselves. They should be audited. They pander to Zine, Smith, Koretz and forget the cops.

• The PPL has stated they are not going to get involved in the process for the next chief of police. Many believe this is ridiculous being they represent the rank and file. They give money and endorse political campaigns of the politicans. This is the most important issue of the city and they could careless. There are many negative posts about this PPL board and its too bad the cops in the end have to pay for the price for their mistakes like now.

• Who cares what Paul Weber thinks, when the rank and file of LAPD are largely fed up with him. He blasts Bratton for being political and in his current blog opinion piece that he sends out to hundreds of thousands of citizens (who signed up for E-policing, thinking it was to get news about community safety), he tells Bratton to stop being so candid. Considering that NOBODY has played politics more than Weber lately, and MORE badly and detrimentally to the rank and file starting with blowing almost a million bucks on pushing to elect the kooky character from Long Beach just because rightwing Republicans DA Cooley and Dennis Zine told him to, that "it would be good for him" like eating his spinach or something. Got themselves a real koo-koo clock who throws all his campaign lies and promises out the window one by one. Upsetting everyone from the left like pro-medical cannabis people to the non-partisan controllers to the NRA folk who are angry he's defending the just-passed Assembly law marking bullits when he campaigned against it. Weber also posts numerous articles surprisingly critical of his own Chief, like this week's parody of i-Watch, and I guess this is a dig at Bratton by saying the NEXT chief "must be a people person." Weber's own backstabbing of those he can't buy and control (starting with the Chief, whose job he wants to make an elected one so he can buy a future chief, allegedly, ideally, part of the Cooley-Trutanich-Zine trio, Zine) hasn't exactly paid off though. His tactic of downright open antagonism and public undermining doesn't seem a diplomatic one. Weber's also played hardball in negotiations against the mayor and Garcetti and rest of council, allegedly on advice of newly hired "politcal consultant" Don Lovey who until recently did the same for the State Prison Guard Union -- the entity whose exhorbitant pensions and perks are a big part of our current State Prison budget crisis. Figured the same gameplan of throwing money at some politicians who have no track records and/ or can be bought will ensure them a winning hand. Didn't seem to play out that way this time with the city -- he's right about one thing, everyone from the new chief to rank and file to Weber and his Police Political Union, are going to have to collaborate and cooperate in getting what they want, but not everything they want. And maybe Weber had better start following his own advice: that playing nice, not bullying and trying to throw his weight around, might prove more effective for the rank and file in the end.
