Fox TV Threatens To Pull Shows In L.A., Nationwide, Over Dispute With Time-Warner

• Ah, This is spot on! Clarifies a few contradictions I've been hearing.

• The NASCAR GUY even more stuff: "to watch there TV there mistaken" =( =( "the next day then give FOX" =( "we already pay to much" =( Plus, the sporadic and creative punctuation is a little freakish. He is the guy you stood behind at Walmart today. Really.

• Fox can get stuffed. The Simpsons hasn't been funny in years. American Idol is rigged. If you've seen one episode of House, you've seen them all. Fox Sports Net should be called the F'ing Poker Channel. 24 is the only show worth watching on the entire network and I'd be happy to buy the box set and watch it all at once then sell it on ebay.

• We're Time Warner customers in Central NY. Every week we have to deal with two or more cable outages. This has gone on for years. And every couple months they drop a channel here or there whining about the rising cost of programming. And they STILL raise rates. Well, I haven't had a payraise in 3 years and I think it is time for TW to start absorbing some of these costs itself, instead of just passing it on to customers or blaming programmers like Fox. Incidentally, I watch the major news networks (CBS, ABC, NBC, CNN), read two newspapers a day, and listen to both talk radio and NPR. Fox News is the fairest, most balanced, and dependable news source in the bunch. I'd hate to see it go.

• I thought FOX broadcasted over the air in most all cities? Are they planning to levee a fee to everyone with a pair of rabbit ears? Should we charge them for beaming their crap into our homes?

• @Southern TWC actually offers a very basic package of just local channels via cable for around $5 which is mostly a public service for those who can't pull OTA very well or at all. That money is basically to cover billing, hookups, etc, and I'm sure they're not making a whole lot on it. So of that $5 package, FOX will now demand a dollar of that. So if all 5 of our local channels follow suit, TWC will probably have to double my grandmother's cable bill. Great. But yes, FOX benefits from this moreso. Most TWC customers can reasonably pull OTA TV. No satellite provider in my town provides local channels anyway..and I know a lot of DirecTV customers. TWC can live without providing FOX. And FOX will look great when their station on TWC shows up as a nice message letting customers know why they can't see the channel and letting them know how to get it for free. And to be honest, OTA HD is higher quality than what you get over cable. HD on TWC (and most cable providers) is insanely compressed.

• I say Time Warner pays the extra dollar a customer and doesn't pass the buck onto it's customers. You know I'm sure TWC makes more than a dollar on every customer, I don't really care if they make a little less, if you pass the buck onto us we could always just sign up for Direct TV, it seems like it's a better value anyway. My dad has Direct TV and he gets more channels for less money. Here Time Warner Cable sucks, they took away a really cool HD channel that played movies all the other channels aren't repeating 30 times a month to give me some hillbilly channel. I don't really care if someone took a HD camera to a rodeo with 200 people in the stands, no one wants to go see that garbage live why would they want to watch it on TV? MavTV I think it's called. what garbage.

• Fox has better programming than most TWC channels! Discovery Channel is nothing but Cash Cab all day. Nat Geo is nothing but Dog Whisperer all day. HIstory Channel is nothing but repeats from years past all day long. Many TWC cable are mostly repeats of the SOS. Fox has all new programming, and TWC knows it. I got rid of TWC because, I've already seen all the shows on the channels I watched.

• I'm surprised that many people are taking TWC's side in all this.. Just because Fox makes their programming "Free" OTA doesn't give someone like the cable companies/satellite companies the "Right" to steal their programming and rebroadcast it to their customers. Can you go to TWC, Comcast, DirectTV, Dish Network, or whomever and say "Gimme a free box, I want to watch FOX/ABC/NBC/CBS, and because they're free, I shouldn't have to pay you for them either"? Let me know how that works out for you. Customers pay $29.95 (or whatever) just for the BASIC programming packages by these companies, who are basically just rebroasting "Free" OTA programming anyway. So why SHOULDN'T ABC, NBC, Fox, or whomever get a slice of that? They have to pay TBS, USA, Sci-FI, HBO, and most other channels don't they? Those channels make money on commercials just as much as the rest of 'em. Or is this just a FOX thing? If it were NBC would people have a different opinion? Frankly I think these companies are STEALING signal (something that cable & satellite companies are always complaining about PIRATES doing) and rebroadcasting it. Or tell ya what, since I'M paying for my Cable service, can't I run a cable from my box over to my neighbors so they can watch it too? To me that's no different than what TWC (and the other cable/sat companies) are doing.

• Why doesn't Time Warner just offer a $1 opt in to their customers explaining that Fox has decided to charge their viewers $1/month for the right to watch their "broadcasts"? Everybody wins then.

• They are threatening to pull the channels from cable that people can get for free over the air? How does this affect anyone??? Time Warner should start running ads on Fox advertising the interruption and how to get the Superbowl in higher quality HD than TW would broadcast it anyway. For all other shows, there is Hulu and Bittorrent.

• Eff them both! if we didn't build up such an artificial "need" for TV SHOWS, Fux wouldn't be trying to jack consumers as viciously and arrogantly as they are. I don't have cable, and I couldn't really care less about TV, although I'm not above watching it. but seriously: SCREW FOX, those arrogant P.O.S., literal Fascists. If they make those shows go dark, it will only backfire on them. If they don't broadcast the Simpsons/FG, and the NFL, fans will be pissed, Fox will be in breach of its contracts with their content providers, and those providers will go to other, less asshole-ish networks. a future without Murdoch's cancerous programming is a BRIGHT future!

• Fox is a broadcast station, the content is supposed to be free and is paid for by commercials. Rather than adapt and experiment with new ways of commercial/advertising revenue to meet the advancing technologies (tivo, internet, hulu, ondemand), Fox wants to do the simplest most short sighted thing possible, start charging the cable providers. And your a fool if you think the cable providers will bite the bullet, no no no they will only pass the buck right on down to the consumer. If it wasn't for sports and stupid online blackout restriction I would of dumped cable a long time ago.

• If you have a problem with it, use rabbit ears if you have a hd ready tv. Also, it sickens me to read how many people back TW instead of Fox. I left TW b/c they continually raised my rate every few months without telling me and it serves them right. Fox is raising TW rates just like they raised ours, so what goes around comes around. We need competition in the cable market, that will lower prices, not complain when a networks threatens to raise fees.

• This is just a stunt like Coke pulled a few years back to boost viewers, They will not pull there shows for one minute because that minute would cost them a fortune, they know the sponsors will not use them, seriously, do you all really think TWC is going to actually cut there own throat? If you'll remember, another network tried the same stunt about two years ago.

• the big card in FOX hands though is live sports - you can't really BT that and this will hurt TW much more than FOX, because it won't be seen by Joe Viewer as FOX issue, but as a TW issue since they can switch to ATT or FIOS and get FOX programming, which is exactly what they will do. The only way to fight back against this with FOX is for all the providers to say F'U to Murdoch and let them go black on ALL providers - this will demonstrate that it is FOX - not the cable companies being the bastards.

• We already pay for cable (which was introduced so that we wouldn't have to watch advertisements and now we have ads on cable), I don't think I would continue a cable service that forced me to pay for programming I can download/view for free on the Internet elsewhere. I guess they expect Hulu to cough up money too in order to show Family Guy on there huh? What needs to happen is everyone stop caring so much about this. If we stopped watching FOX because they wouldn't show it for free like a BROADCAST STATION is supposed to do... what's the worst that would happen? We'd lose some TV shows? Oh no. • Anonymous FOX is doing this to all services, DirectTV came out with an article about it recently and I live in Iowa and have Mediacom and they are also doiing it to us here. TW is just a very LARGE cable company so it gets more exposure. I honestly hope that no one gives into FOX and renews and they go down in flames then get bought up by someone that knows how to run a company.

• Ahh, Time Warner and FOX. Two garbage companies who are not averse to treating their customers like total morons. I have no sympathy for either of them, but FOX's greed and their expectation that I would call my cable company to complain about this is insulting. First of all, the customer service numb-heads on the front line at Time Warner are not going to be able to help with this issue one bit, so complaining to them is utterly useless. Second, I'd rather write letters directly to FOX and harass them. Time Warner has done some lousy things that don't give me much confidence, but FOX has FOX News, so if I had to big the greater evil, FOX wins hands down.

• Really? This isn't such a bad thing. I am a college kid, I watch my fair share of TV but it really is a hamper when it comes to time. It simply eats up time, there are plenty of books to read, plenty of conversations to be had. I say Fox should do it and while they are at it they should definitely take off the Fox"News" Station. Thats just a given .

• Fox is making itself look like the victim here, which is so like them. I hope TW drops them. This will hurt Fox more than TW. Ad revenue will plummet without those millions of eyes that TW brings in. We can hope that FOX goes under....but it won't unfortunately.

• I don't think the cost is intended for the cable subscriber. They basicly want their cut of the monthly fee's being charged to Time Warners customers. That being said I am sure the deal will get signed and Time-Warner will up thier rates again to cover it.

• @SD If the person has a digital ready TV, or one of the digital converts, they will! The best part about it is the channel will be in digital. Which most likely will have higher quality than the analog the customer would normally get without the timewarner converter box.

• I moved to China a few years ago. And it's a completely unserved market (Officially at least) I know when people do want to watch shows, they just download from BT, with those pesky commercials already edited out. I hear. Not that I know from personal experience! But yet, I agree. I wouldn't pay a cent more either!

• i'm a Time Warner Customer A Simpson fan I watch as much Nascar as possible, but if Fox thinks I'd pay them a dime more to watch there TV there mistaken FOX's coverage of NASCAR SUCKS! as it goesand I'd rather miss that race and read about it in the sports page the next day then give FOX anything, we already pay to much for cable TV and once we pay the dimwits at FOX we'll have all the typical stations thinking they deserve more. NO WAY I'LL PAY !
