Young Republicans Gone Wild In L.A: Staffer Fired For Bondage Club Visit

This is a fun game to play, and some of you probably called it: When an entire political party's leadership took heat for approving lavish expenses that included private jet travel, top-flight luxury hotels and a trip to a bondage-themed club in West Hollywood, who's head did you predict would roll?

That of Republican National Committee chair Michael Steele, the man who charged a $9,099 Beverly Hills Hotel bill to the GOP (not to mention his part in nearly $17,000 in private jet travel during the L.A. area festivities last month)? Of course not. Did the weight fall on Southern California big-money donor Erik Brown, who apparently authorized the RNC charge at the sexually flavored club. Nohhhhh.

The head to roll would be much lower on the totem poll, friends. Allison Meyers, director of the under-45 RNC booster club called the Young Eagles, was fired from the party committee, according to the Washington Post.

The RNC big wigs were in town last month for a Young Eagles dinner at the Beverly Hills Hotel, and apparently some after-desert fun for about a dozen young Republicans was later to be had at West Hollywood venue Voyeur, according to the Post. When the nearly $2,000 bill came, Meyers tried to pay but her credit card was rejected and Brown saved the day (or night -- with something gold, platinum or black, no doubt).

Of course, bondage-themed clubbing and conservative family values don't necessarily mix. And so the RNC is quick to call the night out an unofficial activity.

"Our investigation has determined that following a Young Eagles event in Los Angeles, a group of individuals did attend such a club on their own," states RNC chief of staff Ken McKay in an email obtained by the Post. "This was not an RNC sanctioned event and was not associated in any way with any RNC official event."

Way to spin it. Of course, all the focus on bondage-themed clubbing serves another purpose: deflecting criticism of a political party -- one that's quick to point out the alleged overspending and big-government hubris of the Obama Administration -- whose leadership spends thousands on private-jet travel and stays at the Beverly Hills Hotel and the nearby Four Seasons. Because young Republicans going clubbing is a way bigger issue than hypocrisy.

We just hope there was was no toe tapping in the club's bathroom. That would really be an issue.
