• The obviously realized that they were going to be putting to many people out of work. The city has a lot of people who work in the online business. Sure Cali is going through some tough times right now with the budget deficit the state has so it makes sense that they want to generate some revenue. But instead of going after the little guy they should go after the big companies that dont pay enough as it is. Why dont they do that?? Until then they will have to find another way to take in some more tax income.

• This is a good idea. What would be an even better idea is not lie about the city going bankrupt if the LADWP isn't allowed to increase its electricity rates. Considering the incredible power consumption by industrial strength air conditioners you need in DATA CENTERS, Internet businesses are probably not going to be laughing all the way to the bank, cashing checks and hiring people like me and my wife who work in this business. No, instead, these employers are going to pay the LADWP more money it doesn't need considering the $300 Million profit it posted FY2009 on electricity alone. Then, employers are going pull up their pants, stop bending over for the city, and go home.
