The Wong Goodbye: Indicted Temple City Councilwoman Resigns

​Temple City Councilwoman Judy* Wong, under indictment for bribery, has resigned, the Pasadena Star-News reports.

Wong is accused of taking $13,000 in bribes from the developer of the Temple City Piazza, a $75 million mall project. In a letter, Wong said she needed some time off to prepare for her defense.

According to the developer's grand jury testimony, Wong set up a cash exchange at the food court of the Westfield mall in Arcadia -- presumably because there are no good malls at which to accept bribes in Temple City.

Unlike last week, when La Puente Councilman Louie Lujan resigned before pleading to a perjury charge, Wong's resignation does not appear to be tied to a plea agreement.
