Hard Times: Even Beverly Hills Has A Deficit

The state of California and the city of Los Angeles aren't the only West Coast governments that have faced deficits recently. The gilded community of Beverly Hills is facing its own budget shortfall this summer, albeit a relatively small one of $9 million.

According to the Beverly Hills Courier, a citizen's budget oversight committee is recommending that the city end free, two-hour parking in some areas and expand a money making program that tickets red-light runners as ways to soak up the red ink.

The City Council will take up the proposals during a June 3 meeting, when it's expected to approve the budget for the next fiscal year.
