• L.A. when i went to L.A. i thought i was in mexico . It is a F#@kin shame that illegals are protesting a law in the u.s. law enforcement should be able to ask anyone that looks close to mexican for a green card . so of course l.a. boycots az. but we need to do a sweep through l.a. first and deport all the illegals then man the border with some "bout it" MARINES....

• I believe that California should take a second look who they are fighting against. They are both members of the United States. Why fight against each other. Maybe, the airheaded politicians of California don't care how many illegals they have in their state or how low their morals are, but Arizona politicians and citizens have a right to fight for their rights in this Country. • Arizona's law is LESS stringent then the Federal law - which Obama continues to fail to enforce. If Obama enforced the FEDERAL law - which the PRESIDENT is constitutionally mandated to do - and which Gov. Brewer requested numerous times, then Gov. Brewer would not have had to resort to protecting AZ by enacting this law. WAKE UP! READ the law! Every other country protects their borders - but we are RACIST if we try to protect ours?? Look up what Mexico does to "illegals" trying to sneak into their country? And the three students hiking in Iran - held in Jail for almost a year as spies? But anyone wanting to protect the border is "RACIST"? Cede CA from the Union - let them become part of Mexico! This country would be a better place! Good luck to Gov. • So I see nothing of mediation out of all the comments so far, thought I'd point out a few things that have already been said somewhere or another but not all in the same place. First, the power coming from AZ only accounts for 25% of the total power L.A. uses. Yes, that's a fair share, but it's not like it's going to be the worst disaster they've ever seen, so I see their boycott working out just fine. Second, last I checked L.A. has plenty of illegal immigrants, so does Denver, Oklahoma City, Dallas, the list goes on. There are aprox. 10 million of them, do you really think that they all took the same road north? AZ has every right to do what they need to do to feel like they're doing what's right, and CA has every right to do the same. Both are going to have to live with their decisions and neither of them nor you or I can forsee the future, so let them do what they want and if it doesn't work, fine, at the least I can say that trying something is better than not. Third, these people are coming across the border because Mexico is completely infested with drug cartels. If in a position where I had to choose between illegally being in a country where I might get deported and one that I run 10x the risk of being shot than the worst L.A. neighborhoods, the decision is clear. Have you ever bothered to find out the extents they have to go through to become citizens? Many of them I'm sure have intentions of becoming legal at some point but simply can't because of one hold up or another in the eight year process. I'm also not trying to defend the slimy bastards that do come here with the worst intentions though. People are people, most are good and decent, some are not so much, and a few are just plain bad, but I fail to see where color of skin or lack of citizenship have anything at all to do with it. Last I checked white and black people also rape, murder, push hard drugs, and live off taxpayer money in one way or another. So I think both sides need to step back and take a whiff of their own ass before they start claiming someone else stinks.

• LA deserves what it gets for trying to interfere with Arizona's state laws. Cut off their power cancel all California contract including all that California produce harvested by illegal immigrants. Arizona has the right to enforce the federal law at the state level to force the federal government to solve this issue that they have been avoiding for years. The federal government needs to decide if it is going to make them all legal, legalize some and send some back, send them all back, charge them a fee and make them legal, something needs to be done and the federal government isn't doing its job. It also needs to have a policy in place to resolve future illegal immigration once it decides what to do with those already here.

• All or nothing. If you're going to boycott a place then go all out. Don't go for the little sacrifices of not going to Arizona or not buying products with the Arizona label. Do some research like you would do with any major corporation and boycott all the products. Hmm, maybe even go so far as to encourage truckers to avoid Arizona so that they don't take the slightest risk of bringing Arizona dirt into town. So LA either follow through with your threat or stop grandstanding and making false publicity statements. I know an apology, admittance of being too hasty, or the admittance of being hypocritical isn't a possibility for LA.

• Ummm... Arizona's law encourages RACIAL PROFILING, and does nothing to solve the issue of illegal immigration in their state. I mean, think about it, what about illegal Canadians? Do you really think they are going to be hassled if their white and speak English? No. Yet they are committing the same offense. This law does nothing except give power to white bigots. The only way to stop the problems of illegal immigration is to punish the EMPLOYERS who hire them, because THEY are the ones who are causing the problems by exploiting cheap labor. Also, we simply need to have a clear cut work program so people can come here and work legally, pay their taxes and then, if they choose, have a clear path toward citizenship. People are afraid of this, though, because they are racist and fear that whites will lose power. But guess what, the reason that some Latinos have darker skin is because they are NATIVE AMERICANS! THEY WERE HERE FIRST! I simply cannot stand a lot of peoples attitudes toward Latinos, many of whom came here simply for a better life. They work hard to give their children new opportunities. • The Washington Times newspaper published something relevant in this entire debate. The Arizona law SB1070 is identical in every important way to California's Penal Code. That means that Arizona did not authorize or require their police to do anything that police in California are not also supposed to do. So first, start with meatpacking plants (if illegals are getting paid $7.00/hr, that's $280 per week, at 100 illegals per plant, that's $28,000 x 4 weeks = $112,000--a drop in the bucket for Soros or someone as rich as Soros. Have another rich liberal do the same for every every industry that exploits illegal workers (wine, grapes, tomatoes, etc.) Then when meat and food starts costing $20.00 per pound, we'll see how many idiots continue to support stupid immigration laws.
