Nine Arrested At Westwood Rally Fueled In Part By Arizona Immigration Law

• Any poultry product, whether meat or eggs, has a high susceptibility to salmonella. Best to wash your hands after handling shell eggs & any surface they came into contact with. Also cook well. Salmonella can happen in any size facility; however I have never heard of these outbreaks in smaller farms or organic farms and I have been selling eggs for 6 years in CA. I can't say small and organic is a safety net, just my observation.

• I am a Registered Nurse and been told by American hospital recruiters that I cannot get a green card, yet there are thousands (millions?) in the US illegally and there appear to be no efforts to keep them out. There are thousands who will protest to allow those who illegally entered the US to stay, yet will not even make a phone call to help Americans get health care. What is the matter with your country?

• Clarification: The dream act would not grant citizenship to students that have a criminal record, it is part of the requirement of the bill " to have a clear record". Why are you all focusing on criminals? Instead of helping this people To all this people that have made all this nasty, hard hearted comments against this students and illegals, let me just tell you: Do not be quick with your mouth, do not be hasty in your heart to utter anything before God. God is in heaven and you are on earth, so let your words be few. (god is seeing the pain of this people). Do not let your mouth lead you into sin. And do not say this was a mistake." Why should you let God be angry at what you say and destroy the work of your hands? It is always good to help other people in need. We do not know what they are going through (fear, pain, tired of fighting, innocent of their acts, etc). Why not support them? What can you as a citizen be hurt by this? It is not easy been them but it is sure funny watching them try to obtain a dream.They were at an age that they couldnt make a decision for themselves. Please people do not speak like this you do not when you are going to need help from someone, it could be illegal or legal. The world gives many turns, so watch your words. Trust me on this one. • The DREAM Act (LMAOROTF) Never going to happen! Criminals don't get rewarded for bad behavior. America has a pathway to citizenship for ALL the people of the world, millions found it last year. Need help finding it, here's a hint, it's not at the end of an obstacle course you navigate to cross the border. As far as "innocent children", any of these kids that helped perpetrate fraud in order to steal an education from our schools (or any other public services) should be treated like criminals....because they are CRIMINALS! The DREAM Act is a criminals dream, not an American's (if you doubt that, well, you must not know this crap legislation has been floating around for ten years, and now it's losing support... NEVER GONNA HAPPEN!)

Don't listen to the ignorance of the other comments, it's clear that they are driven by hate and fear, so no need to take them into consideration. Andrea, The only students who should be afraid of SB1070 and afraid of being deported are students who are here ILLEGALLY. And since they broke one of our laws, they should be afraid. • To all of the disruptive DREAM activists. First, your illegal protest did not add further support for your cause. Instead, you angered innocent bystanders who needed to get through those roads to access important buildings such as the UCLA Med Plaza/Center. Second, if you really want citizenship, then apply for it. I did it! I went through the process legally and got my Visa to come to the U.S. I then applied for citizenship after I met the requirements and attained my Master's. What do you know? I'm a citizen now. You're making the rest of us feel ashamed for something we did not do. I come from Brazil and look like any Latino on the street. I respected the laws of this nation and came here lawfully - why can't you do the same? When you go to any other country, especially in Europe, they have strict immigration laws. Do you expect them to adapt to your needs if you there illegally? Think about it. Please tell your activists to learn how to use proper persuasion techniques with language. That statement infers that Mexico or whatever is their home and not the U.S. Make a choice and stick to it. Is America or Mexico, etc. your home? I made my decision and renounced my Brazilian citizenship to be a proud American. Stop waving your Mexican flags. • What a waste of taxpayer dollars...to go to such a wonderful school. One would think that M.Coza and all of the protesters would be ready to contribute to this country, since they live in it illegally. There are so many American kids with great grades that didn't get to go to UCLA because she got their spot or they couldn't afford it and weren't going to get it from the government. I'm very distressed at this anger, violence, misplaced sense that they are entitled...because they are here illegally. As an American citizen if I get caught breaking the law I get punished. Laws help keep all kinds of things in check. It is very apparent that this girl grew up believing that our laws didn't apply to her and I imagine that is true for alot of illegal aliens (they are illegal and not immigrants.) Look at Mexico, they have lived in a lawless country for years and that lawlessness has overflowed into this wonderful country.

• Worthless.. Not much more to say. Do you think for a second that AZ cares that some idiot illegal UCLA students caused more misery for the poor people that need to drive near there. These losers have never had responsibilities or have had any positive contributions to our State or Country. They take and take, and then cry for more. • Dear Andrea and Dream Act Organizers, Although you are trying to help worthy students, the organizers need to re-evaluate their protest tactics. Why not organize this event on a weekend? Especially when they are protesting near a HOSPITAL that treats people with grave illnesses. I have Cancer and must drive to the UCLA hospital every day for treatment. Unfortunately, this morning I missed my treatment time because I was stuck for over 90 minutes driving in circles trying to access the UCLA Medical Plaza as my 405 exit was diverted and Wilshire was blocked off. Getting to the UCLA Medical Plaza was a nightmare. The cars were so jam packed and I saw more than one car bump into another in a desperate attempt to move forward. I finally arrived shaking to the UCLA Medical Center almost 2 hours late, and my doctors kindly saw me. Although ambulances could get in, what about the hundreds of UCLA patients who are not being treated inside the ER? There were many sick, elderly patients in the elevator with me who were shaken by the chaotic disruption to our medical treatment. I was someone who was sympathetic to the plight of the undocumented, but the thoughtlessness of going in the street, causing a disruption decreased my warm feelings. How can you increase sympathy for your cause if you don't have sympathy for the plight of the sick men, women, and children who are at the UCLA hospital only a few blocks away? I would ask Andrea and the Dream Act organizers to take into account the hundreds of people at the UCLA medical center: patients and medical staff. Please consider organizing your event on a weekend next time: it will be more successful. Good luck in the future.

• Hello all, Let me clarify: My name is Andrea Ortega and I was arrested today for being one of 9 US citizens doing civil disobedience in support of the DREAM Act. It was an honor to be a part of this action and to be able to be in solidarity with all my friends who are undocumented. I know some people disagree in my participation in this action, saying I am ruining my future, but it is no sacrifice if it means that hundreds of thousands of undocumented students across the country will be able to have an opportunity at their future. It has been 10 years since the DREAM Act was first introduced and we have lobbied, called and talked to our legislators who have failed to answer our asks. This was the only way to get the attention necessary so that people all across the country will know about the DREAM Act. Today as the Judiciary Committee met I hope they hear us and are able to push the DREAM Act out of committee because we can wait no longer, when more students are being terrorized with bills like Arizona�s SB1070, when more students are being denied a right to education and when more students are being deported. In solidarity with the 5 DREAMers of Arizona who have risked their futures in the US so that other students can have it; In memory of Tam Tran and Cinthya Felix who stood up for the undocumented students until their last day on this Earth; In solidarity with DREAMers across the country, Pass the DREAM Act as a stand alone bill NOW!

• Maybe these smart young well educated illegal college students should read the AZ law, the Federal law and CA Penal Code 843b and discover that we here in CA give our law enforcement officials the SAME discretion to do what they will lawfully be doing in AZ in July? • I find it interesting that one of the students uses the phrase "in fear that their families are deported back home.'' Have you not lived here for years illegally and enjoyed what the US has to offer? Have you not illegally enrolled in a public US college and taken the place of someone who is a citizen? Have you not enjoyed the good of the US and you have the audacity - whether or not you are legal or illegal or a Martian - to say "back home"? How dare you. You prove to us in two words that you do not feel that the US is your home after all you've sucked out of it? How dare you and your kind, like Calderon who admits that no one can enter or work in Mexico without the proper documentation (see Blitzer's interview) yet you expect, no demand, that we GIVE you more than legal citizens.
