L.A. Republicans To Protest City Hall's Stance Against Arizona

• The AZ law was carefully drafted and picked over with a fine tooth comb, knowing the liberals would sue (what a surprise). But the FEDERAL government suing AZ?!? Obama should be charged for treason. He took an oath to protect ALL THE CITIZENS (key word being CITIZENS) of the United States, not just the ones he feels like protecting. But, that doesn't fit in with his radical agenda to somehow, some way pass amnesty for illegals. If that knucklehead Obama can't (finally) are saying it's out of control and comething must be done to crack down on illegals. Because the federal gov't refuses (this admnistration and GOP administrations before them -- shame on you Bush!) to build the border fence as that would mess up their plans to ram amnesty down our throats, states are finally drafting legislation out of necessity. To date, 20 states have drafted AZ like legislation and it can't come soon enough for most of us. I'm sick of the freeloading, babymaking leeches. DEPORT THEM ALL!

• I encourage everyone to support Arizona by visiting their beautiful state. We need to boycott the liberal cities/towns who want open borders and want to continue to give TAXPAYER DOLLARS TO THE ILLEGAL INVADERS! I've been to Mexico several times, but will never step foot in that country again. I'll be d*mned if I'm going to spend my money in a country whose gov't educates and encourages to go to America illegally and how to work the system. BOYCOTT MEXICO, LA, SF, NEW HAVEN, BOSTON, ETC. Boycott all the sanctuary cities. VOTE WITH YOUR DOLLARS AND MAKE YOUR VOICES BE HEARD BY YOUR ELECTED OFFICIALS EVEN IF YOU THINK THEY WON'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. • boogienights, if you are going to take a position on an issue and write about it, I suggest your read it first. You obviously have not read the Arizona law. No one is required to have a passport in Arizona. You do have to have identification though, just as you do in every state in the union. After you read the Arizona law, read The California Penal Code, Section 834B. It is almost identical to the Arizona law. It requires anyone who is stopped by police to have identification or you can be arrested. So now, what is your issue with Arizona?

• I agree with the Arizona boycott. No US citizen should have to travel wth a passport in his own country. This isn't the Soviet Union. This issue is so much bigger than immigration. It's the beginning of a police state, and those of us who know our history, know how dangerous this is. I will not visit Arizona or spend any money in any of their businesses.

• If the problem is that illegal immigrants are taking jobs, why aren't there more punitive measures in place for those who hire illegal immigrants? The fact is that these are the people who are creating the immigration problem. Simple economics dictates that if there is a demand, a supply will appear. These people who are creating the demand for illegal labor should be facing immediate seizure of their businesses and long prison terms. Blaming the poor people who are taking a gamble on a chance at a better life is low class. We can take a strong stance against immigrants, but if the roles were reversed a lot of the anti-illegal immigrant folks would be lined up to cross the border into Mexico if they believed it might give their families a better life.

• Study carefully the logical assumptions as you read the rants from the left and the right. Observe who resorts to name calling and labeling. The anti illegal immigration law presumes that a nation has the right to determine who comes and resides within, and the use of practical measures to enforce it. Those opposing the law offer little explaining why a nation cannot act in such a way. Two lines of reason seem to be prevalent: 1, you can't enforce immigration laws since most of the illegal aliens are Latinos and so you would be racist and 2, there are so many Latinos here that we are now the majority and will determine the laws. Look for one person opposing the Arizona law who addresses the issue directly. Find one who states that everyone has a right to live in America, and the government should not oppose the swelling population of illegal aliens. In a world where countries strive to increase education levels in order to compete, look for one who openly argues that in the U.S. our stable domestic population will be better off being overwhelmed with a huge and swelling under-class of uneducated immigrants. The old racist arguments about immigrants doing work that Americans won't are pass�If waves of cheap labor arrive to drive down the value of lower skilled work then the poorest in our society are the first to suffer. High school kids used to have paper routs and do yard work for first jobs. Not any more in Los Angeles. It goes on and on. Listen to the logic used by each side.

• I am amazed and bewildered at the left use of racism whenever there is an issue or policy they oppose. If you don't like Obama's fiscal policies, you are racist. If you don't like the damage caused by illegal immigrants you are racist. People are wise to the misuse of that term. Technically, Mexicans are not a different race than whites. Secondly we wouldn't care if the 15 Million illegal immigrants were blond Swedes. We would still be opposed to them. Has anyone read the Mexican illegal immigration laws? You can be put in jail for two years just for being in Mexico without papers. No one is fooled by the racist arguments, so it is about time to drop them. The fact is that we have lots of Latinos, including Mexican-Americans who are with us on this issue. Arizona cannot continue to finance social programs and the cost of incarceration of illegal immigrants without the Federal Government reimbursement, which they are not providing or without the Federal Government enforcing immigration laws that are currently on the books. This is a law and order issue, not a race issue.

This law is racist, you might as well say endorsed by a racist group. The originator FAIR who helped write this law has been on the record promoting USA for AngloSaxon European whites only. • This issue has nothing to do with race. I wish Latinos would stop trying to make this into a race issue and making out everyone opposed to illegal immigration to be racist. I'm Mexican American so it'd be pretty difficult to be racist against other Mexicans. However, I don't like some stupid notion of "la Raza" blind me.
