Hurricane Surf In SoCal This Weekend?

spicoli fast times.jpg
Stranger things have happened, but the website Surfline has a rarity for June: possible hurricane surf hitting the Southern California coast. Hurricane Celia is rotating 750 miles southwest of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico and, although she's getting weaker as water to the north gets cooler, Celia could generate moderate swell over the weekend, according to premier surf forecaster Sean Collins.

The compact, category four storm, which is feeding off 85-degree waters left warm from the past El Nino, is being followed up by another hurricane, a category three called Darby, according to Global Surf News.

Darby, 245 miles south-southwest of Acapulco, is actually gaining strength.
