[Updated throughout]: In what seems to have become a spring-and-summer tradition in Los Angeles, a two-acre fire broke out Monday in the Sepulveda Pass along the 405 freeway near Skirball Center Drive, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

About 110 firefighters and three helicopter-based crews worked on the flames for less than an hour before dousing the blaze shortly before 4 p.m., according to Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department. The fire was reported at 2:49 p.m., he said.

Blazes seem to crop up in the area regularly during the time of year when school is out for summer. The same goes for fires in and around Griffith Park. Investigators have not established links, however.
