'EDC' Rave Arrests Were Mostly For Drug Sales, Says LAPD Chief Beck

Los Angeles police Chief Charlie Beck this week told the Police Commission that 60 people were arrested during last weekend's two-day Electric Daisy Carnival rave at the Memorial Coliseum in Exposition Park, and that most of those collars were for suspicion of drug sales.
"Approximately 60 arrests were made, most of them for sale of narcotics," according to a recap of Beck's report to the commission.
He also estimated crowds at 200,000 over two days, not the 185,000 claimed by the promoter. (Video shows that many people crashed the gates, and it's possible they were unaccounted for in the organizer's estimates).
The 14th annual all-night dance party drew criticism after a 15-year-old suspected to have taken drugs died at a hospital Tuesday.
The president of the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum Commission banned raves at the venue temporarily after county Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky and Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa criticized the event.
