Jorge Villatoro, L.A. Homicide No. 164: Teenager Fatally Shot near Pico-Union

A teenager who was shot to death while visiting a friend in the Pico-Union area July 19 has been identified as Jorge Villatoro. Villatoro, 19, was found dead near 18th and Bonnie Brae streets around 8:50 p.m. last Monday. According to police, Villatoro was helping a female friend move out of her home when he took a break outside to speak to friends. The female friend heard gunshots and went outside to search for Villatoro and found him on a walk way near an apartment complex suffering from gunshot wounds. The shooting appears to be gang-related. No suspects have been identified.
