The Los Angeles City Council on Tuesday agreed to extend a contract with an LAX shuttle company that has ties to Arizona. This despite the council's boycott of Arizona over its controversial immigration law, a boycott which so far has resulted in no actual action on the part of the city.

In fact the city is 0 for 3 in taking action when faced with Arizona-based or -tied companies that would have fallen under the city's new rule mandating that new contracts with Arizona companies not be executed and old ones should be reviewed and terminated where possible:

The Blue Van Joint Venture runs the LAX SuperShuttle and has offices in Scottsdale, Ariz.

The council last month extended a contract with Arizona-based American Traffic Solution, which runs the city's red-light cameras. And the Los Angeles Police Department found a way around the boycott by securing private funding to send four officers to Arizona on a previously scheduled training mission.

The city continues to receive as much as 25 percent of its electricity from Arizona-based power plants. So what has this "boycott" done so far besides get headlines for the council?

That controversial law, which encourages police in Arizona to check the immigrations status of suspects they stop who they believe might be here illegally, was scheduled to go into effect Thursday.
