City Of Los Angeles To Open 'Cooling Centers' To Beat The Heat
In response to a summer heat wave that has seen temperatures above the hundred-degree mark in the San Fernando Valley, the city of Los Angeles on Thursday announced it's opening "cooling centers" on the weekend.![]()
The centers will include libraries, senior citizens' facilities and park-and-recreation rooms that will be open Saturday and Sunday from noon to 9 p.m., according to a statement from Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa's office. The locations include, according to the release:
Canoga Park Senior Citizen Center, 7326 Jordan Avenue, Canoga ParkNorth Hollywood Senior Citizen Center, 11430 Chandler Boulevard, North Hollywood
Sepulveda Rec Center/Mid-Valley Senior Citizen Center, 8801 Kester Avenue, Panorama City
Sunland Park Senior Citizen Center, 8640 Fenwick Street, Sunland
Sylmar Recreation Center, 13109 Borden Avenue, Sylmar
Van Nuys-Sherman Oaks Senior Citizen Center, 5040 Van Nuys
