Was George Bush's AIDS Strategy Better Than Barack Obama's?

• In clarification of that earlier Bono comment: Prior to opening another one of their LiveAID concerts several years ago, Bono apparently took all of the performers aside and told them, "No shit about George W. Bush while you're on stage"! You can only imagine the loud protests and objections from all the self-proclaimed saviors of the world. But when the noise died down, Bono explained - correctly - that George W. Bush had done more in the fight against the spread of AIDS in Africa than any other President in history. Period. And that included Bill Clinton (as well as Obama now it would seem). Just because someone does not blow his own horn about his accomplishments doesn't mean they didn't care or help the cause. I suspect that over time, more will emerge about the quiet behind-the-scenes initiatives that the Bush administration put in place during his Presidency (opening trade and relations with Cuba is another that comes to mind, in spite of Obama's administration claiming so loudly in his first year in office).

• This is the problem with centralized production. What happened to locally produced products? Petaluma used to be the chicken capital of the world, now it is just another housing track. The lesson here is DON"T PUT ALL YOUR EGGS IN ONE BASKET

• And stop using that lame leftist straw man to try to justify it. No one has told the Muslims that they can�t build a mosque. Those of us who oppose are saying �don�t do it THERE.� There are zoning ordinances across the nation that dictate where various businesses and other organizations can build. This is no different. There has already been discussion in NY about allowing this bunch to put the mosque somewhere else. But now that Obama has (again) stuck his nose in where it doesn�t belong, things are escalating out of control.

• Where does it say Obama reduced funding? Why change a winning formula? BTW, bananas help stop HIV.

• It is disgraceful that the Obama administration has reduced our AIDS committments from the Bush administrations'. This is NOT the CHANGE we were hoping for.

• Obama's inexperience, incompetence & lack executive skills are glaringly obvious when his lack of action and lack of accomplishment are compared to other political leaders. Obama can articulate a vision but it is the transition from vision to achievement that separates dreamers from the succesful. From a Health Care plan that was written by the corruptocrats in congress, to the Gulf oil spill where BHO has not shown that he understands the need for strong leadership and delegation of authority that would allow his on-scene commander to override the bureaucrats, to this AIDS example: This country has gone from a President that wielded power without consideration of the long term effects to one that does nothing other than golf.

• The things Bush did concerning AIDS in Africa are incredibly ignored by the media. Just because you don't think people of the same sex should be "married" DOES NOT mean you hate gay people. ALOT of gay people could care less about gay marriage. Traditional marriage is for a man and a woman and that's just the way it is. No problem. To ignore the successes of the Bush admin concerning AIDS is a shame. If Obama did HALF the stuff Bush did about AIDS people who be slobbering on themselves. Som people know what Bush did. Ask Bono. And I'm no big fan of Bush.
