Dodgers star slugger Manny Ramirez was reportedly headed to the Chicago White Sox this week. The 38-year-old helped Los Angeles win the National League Western Division title in 2008, but has been struggling with injuries almost since then.

According to Associated Press, the Dodgers would wipe their hands of the player for next to nothing: The Sox would have to pay for the remainder of his contract his season, said to be worth $4 million. According to AP:

The White Sox are hoping Ramirez will be energized by a change of scenery and can give them a lift similar to the one he provided when he was acquired by the Dodgers in 2008, when he helped them win the NL West. The 38-year-old Ramirez is batting .311 this season with eight homers and 40 RBIs, but has played in just 66 games due to injuries.

Ramirez has not started in the Dodgers' past four games, and was ejected after arguing a called strike on the only pitch he saw as a pinch-hitter with one out and the bases loaded on Sunday.
