Prop. 8: Don't Line Up For Marriage Licenses Just Yet, Says L.A. County Clerk

The Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk's office has sent out a few statements this week warning residents inspired by the ruling against California's same-sex-marriage ban that they shouldn't line-up for wedding certificates just yet.

One of the details of U.S. District Court Judge Vaughn Walker's action Wednesday is that it will be stayed pending appeal. Apparently some folks didn't hear that. So the county has issued this statement:

Please be advised that the final entry of the judgment has been stayed by order of the Court ... The stay of the entry of the judgment will remain in effect until a motion to stay pending appeal has been resolved. Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk Dean Logan said that "the RR/CC will comply with the orders of the court, and as such are unable to expand our services to same sex couples until entry of the final judgment. We will continue to monitor any new developments and will take immediate action to implement the Court's ruling once it becomes effective."
