Venice Supporters Of Special RV Parking Lots Decry Opposition's 'Propaganda'

• This won't get anyone housed; this is just another way the POVERTY PIMPS to get you to pay their salaries, benefits, and pensions... There's a reason Santa Barbara & Eugene's programs are still going strong...NO ONE GETS HOUSED!

• The truth: the transient community in Venice, and those who clearly profit from them, has run this town into the ground. It's like Escape From NY (David Ewing - did you write that?) around here. Drugs, prostitution, rape, muggings. raw sewage, thefts, threats, fires, murder. Thanks guys. Everyone living in an RV may not be guilty of this criminal behavior, but I for one am willing to throw the proverbial baby out with the bathwater in order to rid the community of a subculture that is manipulative to the core and taking advantage of good, hard working people. Why? So that don't have to be good and they don't have to work. We were tolerant for years. But you (David, Chris, Linda, Steve) took advantage of our tolerance and you made a huge miscalculation as to how much we would tolerate. You went too far. Now you'll live with the consequence of your actions: a community that's fed up. That's the truth.

• Dude. Listen to yourself. Saying "The criminals: all transients" is not the same as saying "The transients: all criminals." If it were, all humans should be removed from Venice (Hmm...). Besides, are you talking about RV dwellers or people who sleep on the street who committed these violent crimes? You don't say. How many total violent crimes are there, and who commits most of them, housed or homeless? You don't say. Has violent crime gone up or down since you decided you were fed up? Do you know? Do you know whether violent crime has increased since last year, or since the year before? Do you know who commits more violent crime - walking transient, RV dweller, or criminal with a roof over his head? Do you know who identified that Venice arsonist? An RV dweller. Do you know why Santa Barbara business are asking their program people if they can put RV dwellers on their premises overnight? Because RV dwellers who are in the program provide added safety for their businesses. Don't believe everything shouters tell you. Shouters have motives. Find out the truth for yourself.

• Venice Concern: Who are you? I'll provide data for you on each and all. Are you debating the murder? The rape and kidnapping under the pier? The arsons? The stabbing (make that stabbings)? The bashed-in face? The arson fires started by long-time transient V$%*quez? Multiple home invasions? Timing: all within the past year. Location: all Venice. The criminals: all transients. Your data is both old cooked. Chris, go down to Pacific and check those numbers yourself.

• Coco-Nut: If what you say is true then it is truly cause for alarm. That is if we can substantiate the figure. A percentage is a relative number - others have quoted a 300% rise in crime, by the way. So if you are saying 250% does that mean we are seeing a decrease? Good news! So, someone, please, tell us what this number represents. Venice, LA, West LA, Pacific Division? What kinds of crimes? Give us a breakdown. Years tracked? I would appreciate it if you gave me, dates and specifics for these horrendous crimes by transients. Maybe even the police reports. The crime stats I have from the Pacific Division show a steady if not declining incidence of crimes in the Pacific Division. And as long ago as June 2008, I have seen an email that quotes a Lead Officer saying he "made the acquaintance of nearly all the RV residents in the area, he did not find them to be criminal, nor had there been any rise in crime attributable to them in the area..." There are RV dwellers that bring trouble; there are residents that create trouble. They can be young, old, poor, rich, even middle class. Let's be careful with numbers and accusations. But if this number truly represents a cause for alarm, I want to know more. And I want something done about it.

We , the residents of Venice are up-in-arms about the increase in crime by a transient community who lives among the RVs and dilapidated vans and cars parked in residential neighborhoods and living on LA's magnificent beaches, We're talking about a transient community which has taken over Venice. And despite the false claims by the shill organization Venice Action, the LAPD absolutely credits this transient community with a 250% increase in crime. Here are the facts: a transient absolutely did kill a pregnant women last year. A group of transients absolutely did kidnap and repeatedly rape a 16 yer old girl under the Venice Pier last year. A transient absolutely did stab a local man 13 times and left him for dead last year. A transient absolutely did bash a man's face in with a metal fence pole and left him for dead last year. A transient did stab a tourist in the hand on Ocean front Walk this year. A transient did smash a skateboard in the face of a visitor this year. A transient did start seven plus arson fires in Venice homes in the past few months. And you wonder why we residents have had enough?? How would you feel? ANd what would you do?

• Except they have no stake in the community. That's the whole point...these aren't residents, they are parasites living off the goodwill of Venice. Time to go!
