• Hey Dennis, you are supposed to report the news. You have put in your two little cents by saying we're whining. Stay out of the debate and do your job. Law enforcement here in Los Angeles knows better than to make judgements regarding medical marijuana; that is because they are following California State Law.

• The DEA was told not to enforce drug laws against marijuana users who are following state laws. Unfortunately, NV didn't include anything in its state laws allowing for dispensaries or even "collective cultivation" like in CA. It clearly states that selling pot is illegal, the only right it gives people is to grow their own weed, possess it and smoke it. Caregivers are also allowed to grow and possess weed for one single patient. So the dispensaries can't claim the MMJ is for personal use, or that they are collectively cultivating (since that isn't in the law) or that they are the customers' caregiver (each caregiver can only have one patient). So the dispensaries are clearly violating NV law which makes them fair game for the DEA. I don't like it, but NV needs to write a better law.

• There were at least 10 raided. No they were not operating legally. In Nevada you are not allowed to receive "compensation" for medication. The law is in direct conflict with the constitution that says that the legislature must provide a reasonable means of supply for the patients. The dispensaries know this and are fighting the law based on the constitution. ASA was asked to help Nevada several years ago and they refused because we wouldn't open an ASA chapter in Nevada due to lack of resources. ASA has never done ANYTHING for Nevada and have no right getting their name mentioned in regards to these raids now. This is a travesty for the patients who need access to medicine, but in the end we hope it will bring much needed attention to the problems here in Nevada and will result in a change in the laws for the better.
