California Sees Its First Marijuana Dispensary TV Ad

Categories: Marijuana

This week California saw it's first medical marijuana dispensary advertisement. The spot (after the jump) for Sacramento's CannaCare pot shop ran on that city's KTXL Fox affiliate, according to Time.

The ad features testimonials from patients who suffered from the likes of AIDS, ruptured discs and complications from a car accident. The people are presented as everyday folks -- not countercultural stoners. "It gave me a new life," one woman says of the dispensary.

Some folks appear to be concerned about children being exposed to the ad, although it's hard to tell that it's a commercial for marijuana. It feels more like a spot for a medical clinic than for an illicit drug.

If Prop. 19 passes, is this kind of TV ad the wave of the future?
