James Lee, the deceased suspect who police say took three people hostage at the Discovery Channel's headquarters Wednesday, lived in Los Angeles for a spell, with KCAL9 reporting that he lived at the Tivoli Apartments in Hollywood from 1998 to 2000.

Fox 11 News played audio of an interview with the man's brother in law, who said Lee worked in Los Angeles as an actor at some point. Lee also had ties to San Diego and claimed to have lost a job there before moving to the Washington, D.C. area and committing himself to environmentalism.

At one point Lee had pitched a environment-themed show to Discovery Channel, to no avail, according to broadcast reports.

Lee was shot by authorities in the afternoon standoff in Silver Spring, Maryland. The suspect claimed to have a bomb, and he appeared to have a gun.

Authorities said he created a website, SaveThePlanetProtest, that had a series of demands for the Discovery Channel, including one stating it "must stop encouraging the birth of any more parasitic human infants and the false heroics behind those actions."

Lee also expressed distaste for immigrants, stating in the manifesto that " ... programs must be developed to find solutions to stopping ALL immigration pollution and the anchor baby filth that follows that."

The suspect had said he became a hardcore environmentalist after seeing Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth, the documentary about global warming.
