A woman fatally shot around 1:20 a.m. Wednesday while sitting in a SUV has been identified as 35-year-old Stacely Jennings. The shooting occurred at 1030 E. 42nd Place, according to Officer Rosario Herrera of LAPD's Media Relations.
Jennings was sitting in a Lincoln SUV when an unknown suspect drove past the vehicle and fired several rounds hitting her, said Detective Thomas Brown of LAPD's Newton Division. The victim's boyfriend was also sitting in the SUV at the time of the shooting and escaped without injury, Det. Brown said.
Jennings was later transported to Los Angeles County USC Medical Center where she was pronounced dead. Police are searching for the gunman.
