A West Hollywood liquor store clerk was robbed at gunpoint early Sunday only be shot at by at least one responding sheriff's deputy.

Bad day, yes, but the uninjured man told TV news reporters he was not mad at the law officers and was actually glad to see them -- even with guns blazing.

It all happened about 1:15 a.m. Sunday at the Carmel liquor store, 8204 Santa Monica Blvd., when the place was robbed, according to Weho Daily. CBS2 reported that a man and a woman walked in, cased the place, then pulled the heist.

As deputies arrived one of them fired eight times the store clerk, who was apparently just trying to point out the direction the suspects took when they bolted, according to WeHo News.

The sister of the clerk, Lincoln Amara, told the News that the place had been robbed four times since they took over ownership a year ago.

The suspects got away. The deputy who opened fire might not be so lucky.
