Turnout For Obama's USC Visit One-Quarter The Size Of 'Electric Daisy Carnival' Rave's Devotees

Could L.A. have had a little more love for President Obama?
You have to admire the political will of Angelenos. We love a good election season almost as much as we anticipate a sale at Fred Segal.

That much might have been on display Friday when 37,500 people came out to see President Obama stump for California Democrats, including gubernatorial candidate Jerry Brown, a USC.

Looking at that number, we have to note that it's less than a quarter of the 160,000 people estimated to have attended last summer's controversial, two-day Electric Daisy Carnival rave at the nearby Coliseum.

Really L.A. people? You'd rather twirl glow-sticks than see the President of the United States?

Of course, it seems likely that the number was predetermined, possibly by the dimensions of the venue, or possibly a U.S. Secret Service that might have had concerns about having any more strangers around the prez.

Still, our commenter du jour, spoofproof, says Los Angeles should have done better:

Thirty-seven-five ... ? I bet that was really impressive and exciting too! But seriously folks, don't you imagine President Obama had visions of a hundred thousand adoring fans filling the mighty L.A. Colisieum and screaming "O-bah-mah" at the top of their voices? Golly, how disappointed must our President have been in our failure to show proper devotion to him? We should be ashamed of ourselves. No, really. I'm serious.

What do you think?
