(Video) Who Trashed The Idea Of A Downtown Los Angeles NFL Stadium On YouTube?

Sometimes we love L.A. a little too much.
Set to Randy Newman's "I Love L.A.," a video depicts downtown sports fans as criminal hooligans and seems to place Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa in the back pocket of Staples Center boss Tim Leiweke.

It's a rant against Leiweke's suggestion that the company he represents, Anschutz Entertainment Group, build an NFL stadium downtown -- on property, at the Convention Center, owned by taxpayers.

Curbed LA on Tuesday wondered aloud who might be behind the otherwise anonymous clip job. After all, there's a competing vision for NFL dreams, this one for the city of Industry.

While the images don't lie, we can't help but sense a little bit of racism, or at least xenophobia, in the video's depiction of downtown sports fans as brown animals. One shot even features a glimpse of the Mexican flag.

Yeah, people went apeshit in June when the Lakers took another championship. And yeah, in a town where one of every two people is Latino, many of those idiots were brown.

But that doesn't paint the whole picture of the downtown sports scene.

Anyone who wants to sell a stadium to L.A. should be sensitive to the fact that half of his potential audience will be Latino.
