If The Grim Sleeper's Victims Were Mostly White, Would It Have Taken Nearly Three Decades To Find A Suspect?

The LAPD this week unleashed 180 eerie boudoir photos they say were kept by "Grim Sleeper" serial murder suspect Lonnie Franklin, Jr.

Detectives are concerned that some of the creepy pictures could represent more possible victims in a crime spree they say spanned the 1980s to the 2000s. Cops say they have linked Franklin to at least 11 cases

Former Weekly staffer Christine Pelisek, who helped keet the case alive in the '00s, writes in the Daily Beast:

Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and city Councilman Bernard Parks help unveil the alleged 'Grim Sleeper' photos.

Some photographs show women who look like they may be asleep, unconscious or dead.

How could a suspect have operated for so long under the radar?

It's a question our commenter of the day, Traci, asks:

My question is how did the killer - have possibly 180 more victims - In South Central - if a black woman disappears so what?

If a Blond woman is missing for 12 hours its all over the news. And God forbid if she is missing 24 hours - every cop in the nation is looking for her.

This is unacceptable - 20 years of murdering women of color. No One Cared! DAMN!
