Gay Community Asked to March in Martin Luther King Jr. Kingdom Day Parade

The gay and lesbian folks at Here to Stay Coalition and Jordan/Rustin Coalition are asking other gay and lesbian folks to join them for the Martin Luther King Jr. Kingdom Day Parade in Leimert Park in Los Angeles.

The parade, which honors Nobel Peace Prize winner and civil rights icon the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., takes place on Monday, January 17, at 11 a.m.

Both Here to Stay and Jordan/Rustin do important outreach work in the African American community, and the MLK parade is a great opportunity to do more of that.

There's also a sign making party on Saturday, January 15, between 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. at the Catch One Nightclub.

That great. Dr. King, murdered by the mentality of the southern baptists / born again christians who hated blacks would surely be happy. As would his late wife.

But at the same time, some black churches in IL are demonizing gays. Amazing how religion can be totally corrupted. Why blacks - about 57% of whom voted for Prop 8 in CA?

First blacks are IMHO very religiously conservative - a result of their having absolutely zip economically or socially. Second the christian right who gave us slavery the kkk and segregation know this. so they targetted blacks. the result evil begets evil. Religion can become the worst of the worst of mankinds history. As well as being the cause or a supporting cast.

So glad that 2 of my 3 kids, and I are close to aethists. On the other hand, as Jews, I happen to believe the great statement made several thousand years ago - love thy neighbor as thyself. Wasnt that Jesus?
