Some achieved bigger air than this at Mountain High.
A lot of snowboarders who headed up to the local mountains post-holidays for some relatively fresh powder were looking for some serious hang-time. After all, getting a little air by blasting off a jump or mogul is a big part of the board-riding experience.

But riders at Mountain High probably weren't looking forward to being suspended high above earth for ... two hours. It could have been an Olympics-style record, but this big air was achieved when one of the Wrightwood resort's lift stalled Wednesday.

Hundreds were left up in the air like George Clooney.

The San Bernardino Sun reports that 212 people had to be rescued after the chair lift broke down about 11 a.m.

Some who were close to the ground were able to jump off, but others were as high as 20 feet up, according to the paper.

Mountain High gave at least some of the airborne patrons vouchers for a free day of boarding.
