Assemblyman Tim Donnelly is turning out to be a real gift to the Sacramento press corps.

Since he arrived last month, the Tea Party candidate from Twin Peaks has shown no indication of idling on the Capitol's back benches.

The latest proof is a video in which he literally shreds Gov. Jerry Brown's budget.

One other thing he could have cut: his new Ford Edge. (Cost to the taxpayers: $32,000.)

When he's not making videos, Donnelly is tending to the people's business. Last week, he sat in on a meeting about emergency repairs to State Route 330, the mountain road to Running Springs that washed out during the recent rains.

Say, why did that road wash out anyway?
The infrastructure is aging. Highway 330 was built 60 years ago, and a great many areas and the drainage culverts are in need of replacement or rehabilitation, (Caltrans official Ray) Wolfe said. Unfortunately, there is no money to do that type of work until an emergency occurs, he said.
Hey buddy, we're taxed enough already.

Caltrans expects to spend about $20 million on emergency contracts to repair the road. But as long as we're cutting, why not cut that? It would be a symbolic sacrifice.

Some of the commenters on the SacBee website have been pretty tough on Donnelly's video.

Gosh, what a moment in the sun for this yokel. I have three questions: 1) Who is Tim Donnely? 2) Where the hell is Twin Peaks? 3) Does he actually think anyone will care about this little stunt?
So glad you asked. From November, here's a profile entitled "Tim Donnelly's Revolution."

The state is spending more than taxes received. personal income taxes are more the 40% of the total. Get rid of the job killer attitude of the legislature and bureaucratic rules. More jobs, more tax revenue. CA is the worst state for rules and taxes. businesses are leaving and or growing in more 'friendly' states. Cut taxes and business permits=more jobs, more revenue. How many ex elected officials are on the state payroll? Follow Wisconsin, eleminate government employee unions telling legis how to vote.

Explain why Donnelly allows support from his friend Richard Bunck and Hale McGee, both notorious white aryans, Mc Gee has been named a racist by the Jewish communityAnd yet we elected someone that believe in them. Amazing.

Brown'sbudget today slashes spending by $12.5 billion, including an eight to 10 percent cut in take-home pay for most state employees, and proposes a “vast and historic” restructuring of government operations. “For 10 years, we’ve had budget gimmicks and tricks that pushed us deep into debt. We must now return California to fiscal responsibility and get our state on the road to economic recovery and job growth.”

Brown’s budget also calls for temporary continuation of taxes while the state pays off debt, moves forward with his realignment plan and consolidates or eliminates functions. “Since it will take some time to fully implement these changes, I propose to ask the voters for a five-year extension of several current taxes so that we can restructure in an orderly manner,” the Governor explained.

He said the proposed spending plan, which puts $1 billion into a “rainy day” reserve fund, closes California’s budget deficit “now and into the future.” The Governor said his realignment plan, which he called “vast and historic,” will return decisions and authority to cities, counties and schools and “allow government at all levels to focus on core functions and become more efficient and less expensive” by reducing duplication of services and administrative costs.

The one area of state spending spared from cuts is kindergarten through 12th grade education. “Schools have borne the brunt of spending reductions in recent years, so this budget maintains funding at the same level as the current year,” the Governor said.

Brown’s budget proposes total spending of $127.4 billion for the 2011-12 fiscal year. Of this amount, proposed General Fund spending is $84.6 billion. The spending plan eliminates an 18-month budget gap estimated at $25.4 billion, comprised of a current year shortfall of $8.2 billion and a budget year shortfall of $17.2 billion. A combination of $26.4 billion in actions is needed in order to have a $1 billion reserve. In addition, the deficit will grow to $26.6 billion if the proposed sale of state office buildings, blocked by court order, does not proceed, requiring $27.6 billion in budget actions in order to have a reserve.

Brown’s budget proposes $12.5 billion in spending reductions, $12 billion in revenue extensions and modifications, $1.9 billion in other solutions to close the gap and provide for a $1 billion reserve. Major spending reductions include $1.7 billion to Medi-Cal, $1.5 billion to California’s welfare-to-work program (CalWORKs), $750 million to the Department of Developmental Services, $500 million to the University of California, $500 million to California State University, and $308 million for a 10 percent reduction in take-home pay for state employees not currently covered under collective bargaining agreements. Brown also plans to trim state government operations by $200 million through a variety of actions, including reorganizations, consolidations and other efficiencies.

So my Tea-publican friends, what is your plan, how does it measure up?

For the moment in the sun yokel comment you seem to think you are so smart look up who he is and Google maps for the other and I care about what he is doing so if you can't contribute something useful (which is likely) butt out.

No. He IS a yokel in the sun. Twin Peaks IS insignificant. And I am his constituent in La Verne.

The issue of modern society are far too complex to be understood in terms of his idyllic (never really existed) illusions of what he thought America once was.

1) Tim Donnelly is the guy everyone needs to have represent them. He has been a neighbor of mine for several years and is a great friend to my family.2) Twin Peaks is in the San Bernardino Mountains. If you are not sure where San Bernardino is, it happens to be in the largest country in the country, so check out a map. Lake Arrowhead sound familiar? Twin Peaks is the center of his district.3) Apparently someone cared enough about his "little stunt" to write about it. I'm sure his constituents care as well. After all, I do and I am one of them.

I expect that if a earthquake takes out a bridge on the 405 we should save some repair money and just route everyone to PCH?

It is sad that it takes a emergency to get roads fixed that would have been ok if only our government had spend monies to properly maintain them.
