L.A. art lovers are banding together on Facebook in an attempt to prevent the removal of another Banksy piece in the city. This after ...

... workers for CBS Outdoor apparently ripped down a massive Banksy piece, said to be worth possibly six figures, from a sign at Sunset and Laurel Canyon boulevards near West Hollywood Wednesday. The piece ended crumpled up in a ball.

This Banksy billboard art was taken down Wednesday.

Fans of the British guerrilla artists work don't want that to happen to a precious anti-war work painted on the back of an Urban Outfitters in Westwood Village.

The page states:

"World famous graffiti artist has made Westwood Village his latest canvas. If we don't get the word out, this ... art piece will be painted over!!!"

Banksy's work has been spotted around town in the days leading up to the Academy Awards, where his Exit Through the Gift Shop is up for an Oscar statuette.

A scene erupted late Wednesday as a crew showed up to take down the work on the CBS Outdoor billboard and some folks gathered to show their dismay. Employees at a nearby gas station reportedly offered $10,000 for the piece but were turned down.

Bad Banksy!

One might think Urban Outfitters, which has marketed itself as a someone artsy, rebellious alternative to the usual mall fare (Gap, Abercrombie & Fitch), would embrace this as a marketing coup and frame the thing under lock and key.

We'll see.

Westwood Banksy has been painted over completely, like it was never there.

The Banksy works of art found around LA should be for the public and viewed by the public. I think the people who are cutting it out to sale and make a profit are sick greedy people. It's street art and should remain on the street to inspire and not stolen by some money hungry profit monger. If you want a Banksy get one from a gallery and leave the street art where it where it's supposed to be.... In the streets. Otherwise you are missing the whole point of what Banksy is about!

The billboard isn't Banksy. It doesn't look like Banksy at all.

The Mickey billboard is indeed Banksy, the piece is up on his website.

The trick lies not in putting it up, but in somehow getting it taken down and sold to some Banksy fan for some serious bank

Very sick art! Nice to see skill here and there. The heavier the meaning the more value it should be worth....

ia Mia is a 14 year old singer that lives in Westwood Village. She was walking home from lunch, as she does every day, when she saw Bansky's art work on the ally wall of Urban Outfitters. She decided to sing live before the observers, "Will You Be There" by Michael Jackson because the art work seemed to portray a similar message. Pia Mia more than a million views on her youtube account.
