Jamillah Moore, President of Los Angeles City College, and Others Buy Time before Trial for Racism

Dr. Moore seems to be doing an outstanding job on the LACC Campus inspite of numerous issues. Her many accomplishments and success in running the City College Campus make it hard for me to believe she is pushed by racism!

Hi, it's Mars Melnicff, the author.I'd like to point out that -Miller is not the person on trial here.-The point here is that many students were harmed by the axing of the sports programs. -I'm not sure what someone's comment about the caption being racist was referring to, but sorry if I came across in that way.Thanks for reading,Mars

How awkward is the subject matter of the article about racism when alone the caption under Dr, Moore's photo is discriminatory. We all know in the white community that comments such as that are racists and to think you are trying to get away with that. So I wonder if this your version of hiding behind 1st Ammendment rights of that it is ok to write discriminatory remarks and that your ok and won't be held responsible for such remarks. I am highly offended by such unacceptable and discriminatory remarks. Even more so that the assistant coach won a discrimination suit which included Miller as one of the offenders for discrimination. I do believe that the assistant won roughly $1.1 million dollars.

Something else you need to look at. You may say your a student athlete who wants to play for a winning coach. Well now lets look at what is happening with this article alone such as captions under the Presidents photo. So this is how winning athletes and coachs want to play, Then basketball alone sides with discrimination and that they are ok with these racist attitudes is sick and wrong and not a winning attitude.

As a former student-athlete at LACC, I find this article disturbing. I played for Coach Miller in high school and in college. Coach Miller runs a great program and the majority of players that has played for him has become successful men. It is a shame that the program is non-existent, because there are young men in the community that are not going to get the opportunity to attend a great institute and have a chance to play for Coach Miller.

This ruined my chances of playing for the best coach in all of jr College , which also hurt my chances of playing at the next level and getting a scholarship . Changed my whole life as i see it ... And for the worst .

Man i could have been playing for Coach Miller Right Now If This Didnt happen . This is horrible man.

Man the whole situation and what occured is crazy. I wish that this event would have never happen. I myself am a player & I would have love to have started of my college basketball Career with coach Miller. He's a winner & that was what I was looking for when making my choice to play @ a junior college program, along with receiving a good chance on going on to the next level of school.

Wow, after reading the article this morning on the front page of the LA Times, the LACCD is going to come under fire about all of their decision making. If indeed it was the district that made the decision on Mr. Miller. I would have to say it could bode very well for him. It could end up being a complete humiliation and embarrassment for the district and all those associated with it.

Many a coach that has won championships has been dirty. Just as many that have won championships are clean. The same goes for administrators, the article seems a bit skewed against the administration, I am sure the administration has a dificult job and are trying to do they best for the school. Let's let due process take its course and we see the truth.

I’m very curious to see if the trial will ever be. Dr. Moore has a very impressive distinguished resume. She has a very strong reputation. But this case just has to make you question and wonder who she really is and what she is really all about. A trial will answer all those questions. Which makes you really wonder why the requests for delays. The fact that this case against her is going to trial says a lot already. I don’t doubt settlement offers have been made. Should it go to trial where every decision is going to be dissected and have to be explained in detail, will of itself be a huge blemish for Dr. Moore and her distinguished career.

I don't know the story between Moore and Miller, I would guess the truth is somewhere in the middle of both of their versions. It is sad there are no sport teams for the students to join or support, however, in today's budget crisis, I think it is more important that there is a focus on classes rather than sports. With the budget continuing to be an issue, I only hope more teachers and classes will not be cut. Once they cut teachers, and classes are reduced, and a student will need 4 or 5 years to complete a 2 year program that will be the real shame, not the lack of sports.

So many students need community college athletics to better their lives, it's a disgrace that LACC just shuts down the athletic program or any other department that helps people get the education to improve their lives. Let's get this case heard or settled and bring athletics back to LACC!

To all the people who supports Mike Miller, this man is so dirty he would sell his mother if she was in this country he moved them out the country not to get involved in this mess. If anyone knows Mike or the fat white guy this is a person who was caught in a scandal of division 1 scheduleing while as the head caoch and athletic director at L.A.C.C. He would bring recruits from out of state and make the kids give him there finacial aide money then he would put on there admission form that they were in the military, the damn recruits could not even spell MILITARY. As a matter of fact Sherwood and Dr, Moore are stand up people for actually not letting Miller bully his way out of this and buy his way out of this, everybody knows he had about 10 instructors on his personal payroll should i mention them? AND AS FOR MIKE MILLERS 2 STATE TITLES AND 14 CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS before each game he would give tennis shoes to the game officials he would do this out of the site of the opposing coach. 1 more thing everybody should know i know he has personally paid instructors cold cash for the grades that the "dummer" basketball players could not do the work in class so there goes miller to make sure they pass that class money talks to certain instructors. oh and mike miller sold his players to the highest bidder out there in division 1 if he could not get 5000 dollars for the player he was sending to that school he would ask the next school inline and we all know what he did with certain players i feel bad for them the kids not coach miller not one bit he needs to be 86 from college basketball period all his supports are not cheering now. you mike miller people are saying how does he know all this stuff well i witnessed most of it and i also found out if i knew young black boys so he could have fun with them at 1000 a pop get it.Coach Miller should drop the law suit he fired the baseball coach few years back and it went to court and i bet nobody new that the baseball coach won his case for wrongful termination so if anyone fired a coach because of RACSIM it's mike miller and if anyone want's to know how much was awarded it was a cool 1.2 million dollars so read it and weep MIKE MILLER FANS the man is dirty, A homeless man has more dignity than him the homeless man will pan handle and state his case that he is poor and hungry Miller will just try to intimidate you and see if you go away the man is unstable at times we thought he was bipolar but that was to good for him so know it's just pure EGO EGO EGO.another thing when you wan't to steal money that belong to the school and say it was for shoes and fake jackets that never showed up thats is fraud that's your coach mike miller. Not one person here can touch this story i see it i lived it i seen the truth and mike miller is the biggest lier I have ever met. i had 1 coach call me from a major division school the coach told me hey coach miller wants 4000 dollars for this player we dont pay for players and i told him give it a couple weeks he is being investigated on a ncaa violations so the next week the same coach called and said we got him we got the player. And i said you got him for nothing wright he said how did you know and i said he is being investigated by the NCAA so he needs to run a clean slate so it worked perfect for the out of state coach, the way college basketball is set up to be a scholarship to become a great student and athlete.but last of all why is mike miller calling his former players to say nothing or they never seen nothing if the feds call you so who is the BULLY know.and it's better athletics had to be dropped it was mike millers fault to begin with he taught all the tricks to the coach who was coaching at the time he is a nice man but again mike could not get his job back so he brought this to him self the man should pay back all the money he stole from coaching and making false invoices so he can collect why is no one talking about thatIn my final words the school is better off with out mike miller in the school, for you supports of mike miller i wonder how many times he called you to post a line or too to make him look good before trial. Sherwood and Dr Moore thank you for standing to a man who does not care of the school or kids who attend that great college.

Funny how this so-called reporter didn't write about the $1.12 million that Miller just cost the LA District this very week when HE was proven, in court, to be a racist. I guess it's a good thing MIller still has enough money to pay all the people who are posting these glowing comments about him. Too bad there are so many fools out there who believe everything they read. But, lucky for this "reporter" bad journalists get away with lying for living.

I wonder if Ms. Melnicoff will write the other side of the story once Moore and Sherwood are vindicated against Miller and Baron's lies by a jury. Probably not as long as Miller keeps paying her to continue the grand tradition of journalistic muck-raking that she has so willingly participated in. It is terribly sad to see that the LA Weekly has lost all of its journalistic integrity by allowing this hack to write for their publication.

I feel the crime is not about race,but more the simplicity that you shot down the hopes of students that may have had a solid future on and off the court. It doesnt mater the race of a person if he or she can do a solid job. The bottom line is she destroyed a program that got results.

Miller is the biggest crook of them all and when it comes to winning all those championships; it helps when you have paid officials to help you win games. He is such a hypocrite calling Jamillah Moore a racist when he is a racist himself and he treated his players as if they were slaves, selling them to Universities, through his "recruiting business"
