School girls, where are you?
You know certain people deserve permanent GPS trackers attached to their body parts -- Charlie Sheen, Lindsay Lohan.

But school kids?

Really?

Yep.

Only in O.C. The Register reports this week that seventh and eighth grade students with four or more unexcused absences are getting mandatory GPS devices. It's part of ...

... a six-week pilot program to see how it works. It's the first GPS-tracking system for public school students in California.

As part of the deal the kids get a weekday morning phone call reminding them to go to school. And then, five times a day, they have to enter a code on the device that lets it know they're on campus.

Oh joy. To be a kid these days. Good to know our public school kids are treated just slightly better than prisoners.

They also get a coach and volunteer monitors.

Remember when ditching class was an art form? Now it's science. We'll sure some bright 13-year-old will learn how to game this device. She'll be smoking a joint at the Block while her GPS says she's learning geography.

Good luck with that, Anaheim Union High School District.

Big Brother and Big Sister are watching you.

Now if they can only invent a machine to monitor your thought crimes. (Coming soon I'm sure. It doesn't really need to work anyhow does it, for others to go to jail that is.)

1984, here at last and the irony is it can't be blamed on communism or even on faux socialists but on the "best of intentions". The same "good people" who think draconian jail sentences for even the vaguest of "crimes" is "justice". Even the worst serial killers use similar "logic" to justify their sadistic hobbies, much like the bulk of the American public and, clearly, the legal system.

GPS devices should be attached to good paying American jobs that have been outsourced so Americans who were laid off can see where their American Dream went to.

I don't think that will solve anything

Sure it will, it will eventually fill up the Prisons for Profit. Remember, laws are made with the intention of enforcing them when they're broken so we can discover who the "bad people" are punish accordingly.

We WILL sure, we ALL sure... maybe this is why we need the devices. Did you mean we ARE sure (then it would be we're)?

They should put mandatory GPS devices on all public employees including police officers who spend an unusual amount of time sitting at Starbucks or some other back lot doing nothing but waiting out their shift - much like school teachers who once stayed at school past the final bell so kids could ask questions, parents could stop in with a question. Try finding a school teacher after the last bell, their prius is out the lot faster than the school bus. Lazy public employees and does anyone believe they are concerned about the kids? Nope. These administrators are concerned about the all mighty dollar these heads of cattle bring in to their school. No wonder California is one of the worst states to get a public education unless your public school is located in one of the wealthier areas. Yet those schools won't let the lower thans transfer over. Its all about the dolla' Track public employees, reduce their pay and retirement and increase their health contributions and if they don't agree put a GPS device on their rear end.

...attacked to their bodies... really? Freudian slip perhaps?
