Nude Woman Rescued From Side of Southern California Cliff at Black's Beach

Nude fans of Black's Beach.

Black's Beach in San Diego is known for its laissez-faire attitude toward nudity. While nude sunbathing is not legal, being clothed is not enforced.

We're told the La Jolla beach is a place for shriveled up old pervs who still think it's 1978. But for some reason, on a cold, windy, blustery day in 2011, a 27-year-old woman descended the perilous bluffs of Black's.

And there she stayed ...

... stuck on a bluff in the buff. Of course, the news helicopters arrived. And well, the shots were spectacular.

Rescuers were called to the cliffs near the Torrey Pines State Park glider port at 2:15 p.m. Tuesday, according to the North County Times.

The sunbather told them she was headed to the beach and had thrown her clothes down ahead of her (wise move).

But then she got to a place where going back up or continuing to go down didn't seem to be an option. So she froze. (Perhaps literally as well).

San Diego's Channel 6 news reported that she got a ticket for ignoring signs warning of unstable bluffs.

What's really awesome about this tale (tail?) is that the female lifeguard who was lowered to rescuer the woman brought her clothes and had her dress before they continued to the bottom of Black's.

At least they had their priorities straight.

I am very offended by the attitude and tone of this article. I am a 26 year old woman from Northern California who has been sunbathing and swimming nude since the age of 13. I might also add that I come from a very religious family where drugs, alcohol or premarital sex are forbidden, but nudity is acceptable. From my 13 years of nude experience I can say with some authority that most nude beaches are not full of pervs that still think its 1978, rather people of all ages, including families, who enjoy being nude in a non-judgmental, safe environment. Although I am not familiar with La Jolla beach, "we're told" is hardly good journalism. Based on what I looked up, the nudists at La Jolla beach are just like the nudist I grew up around. There is a group of naturists, of many ages, who meet there who specifically denounce public sex, and overt sexual behavior. Nudity is not always sexual, and one should not be interpreted as such.
