Following last week's brutal parking lot beating, the Dodgers have hired former LAPD Chief William Bratton to advise them on security.

That's a sharp reversal from Saturday, when Frank McCourt said he was satisfied that Dodger Stadium was already as safe as it could be.

Since retiring from the LAPD, Bratton has been chairman of Kroll, which bills itself as "the world's leading risk consulting company."

Kroll also handles investigations for companies involved in high-stakes litigation, so watch out Jamie McCourt...

In a statement, Frank McCourt said that Bratton will oversee a "top-to-bottom review" of stadium security procedures.

"We are committed to ensuring that Dodger Stadium remains a family-friendly environment for all baseball fans," McCourt said.

Meanwhile, Bryan Stow, 42, remains in critical condition with a severe skull fracture.

Supporters are holding a candlelight vigil tonight against fan violence, and a relief fund has been established by the San Francisco Police Credit Union.

Read the comments on theeastsiderla.com and other east side blogs. There's been a huge problem with (some) Dodger fans for years, and sadly, it took a tragedy to get the Dodgers (or the LAPD) to respond. Sad and shameful.
